Legitimate rape is a legitimate term. It stands in contrast to a claimed rape which was consensual at the time the sexual congress occurred. Several decades ago when people were still willing to acknowledge that sometimes a rape claim can be falsified, it was in common use amongst the people who might talk about such things (law enforcement, health care etc). Getting upset at "legitimate rape" is like getting upset at "niggardly". If you want to let your ignorance get you all upset go ahead, but the people who know what words mean in English will know you are being mighty silly.
