I swapped motors recently because the car was smoking and I wanted to rule it out as being the cause. It was either that or the turbo. Turned out it was the turbo seals.
So I bought a $350 motor with 22k miles on it. Swapped it in, and it ran pretty good at first. Actually, it sounded like a new motor. But over the next couple days, it started missing, then getting an irregular idle, then started blowing black smoke. It got to where it wouldn't idle anymore. I was like WTF now!?!?!?!
I figured it only had 22k miles on it, so I didn't have to do any kind of "tune up" to it. It should be running great. confused.gif

Well, I knew I was getting fuel from the black smoke. And I just got done with my MSD setup, so it's definately getting spark. So I pulled the plugs..........................

I knew they were gonna be the good 'ol stock Champions.

2 were missing tips down to the ceramic
1 was missing ALL of the ceramic completely

^^they are stock! Thats really bad though, sure no one had been running nitrous on that motor??

 

Champions just suck. When I worked at a parts store those were the cheapest plugs you could get cause they were the worst.

Im not surprised they literally fell apart.

 

dang, 22k is early though, mine didn't die till 50k and one of the crappy wires went first.

 

Sounds like my KORE spark plug wires lmao... although to be fair, they went close to 30K before falling apart.

Damn you've been busy with that car... swapping motors, changing your clutch, upgrading your turbo set-up and whatever else you've done. All this year alone fing02.gif
