i was literally thinkin about this all day.
Although i haven't listened to most of the Damage Plan sh1t, the stuff played on the radio always caught my attention. Dimebag, in my opinion, is one of the top 3 METAL guitarists... the other 2 being Randy Rhodes and Zakk Wylde.
the whole situation is rediculous. why on earth?! whats the fvckin point?!! Such a fvckin waste of talent. Dimebag was a great man...
may Darrell Abbott (and the audience members also killed) rest in peace
and may Nathan Gale (the shooter) rot in the darkest depths of hell

i'm sure you weren't mad when selena got shot for no reason.
people get shot for no reason everyday, it really shouldn't matter if they are a celebrity or not.
hell back home a bunch of guys i know had met up to chill/race and some guys in a t-bird just unloaded on them in a drive by. for no reason except to shoot at a bunch of import cars with barely 20 and early 20 yr olds.

actually, i was upset when Selena was shot. however, since i was 12 YEARS OLD on March 31st, 1995 and didn't have the internet and didn't have a tiburon (because they didn't exist) so i could post in the Off Topic section of this beautiful site.... i COULDN'T cry you a river. how's that?
and if you would like to know, me watching the Selena movie makes me tear up pretty much EVERY time i watch it. there. i cried you a river....

and thats sad too. i'm sorry to hear that. so why should i single out Darrell Abbott?? because of the amount of ppl in this world who he TOUCHED. as a Musician, he was one of the most inspirational. As a person, he was well loved by EVERYONE who he came across. comparing Dimebag Darrell to some 20 year old tuner who is known only on his block is like comparing apples and oranges (shitty cliche, i know).
so. how's that? now i would appreciate it if you stayed out of this thread because I made it to honor the life of one HELL OF A guitarist and one HELL of a man.

A couple of good points have been made in this thread. Yes, its tragic that dimebag is dead... murdered in front of his own brother.. I was supposed to be there and I'm glad that I didn't go. The only thing that stopped us from heading out was the fact that we had to work in the morning. It brings into mind that it could have happened to me, or my friends. Turns out my brother knew the bodyguard that died from jumping on the shooter. Things like this affect us everyday, to a greater or lesser amount. But people don't seem to notice unless they are famous. I'm a huge fan of the guitar, but I thought there was a more tragic event on the news last week. Here in Dayton a lady was shot in the head while she was dropping off her friend after work. No motive. Now that lady is dead for doing a favor for a friend. The world is a sad place to be in. And as it is... its only getting worse.. nothings going to change it either. People are just getting more and more corrupt and they will eventually stop caring....... Dimebag didn't even see the shooter before his brains were spilled. He at least died doing something he loved... I hope i go that way, doing something I love. He will be remembered but don't forget about the 1000's of other victims out there that seem to die unoticed... RIP dimebag.. and I say RIP to this world... it'll only get worse....

it was crazy.. i was at a strip club with my gf when it happened. Well after that we went to a normal bar where some of the bouncers where at that were at the shooting and they had blood all over their pants... they were all talking about it. It was pretty messed up

I hear what you are saying, but I think you under estimate how big a situation like this is (to the world).
It's very sad about selena, she was talented,... but then she never invented how to sing. still I have respect for her for how she was so young and talented with a big future ahead, only to have it brutally taken away.
Dimebag was a true innovator of the guitar. This guy did shit with his wammy bar that no one was doing. He influenced me to learn how to do some killer Metal solo's. His vibrato was SICK! One of the best of the pro's. his feel for rhythm was intense! This guy got murdered in front of his fans, while playing the guitar!!!
What a way to go. Though im sure if he had a choice, he might of wanted to go out that way, since his love of playing was so huge.
I still can't believe it.
The Metal community was hit hard with this one.

whoa i just read this shit. first off man i don't even know who the **** this dimebag darrell is, i don't really listen to a lot of metal but do respect it as an art form. i'm sure he was a great guy. i'm well loved by everyone that meets me, does that make me special? oh wait i didn't innovate guitar, oh well.

It's cool how everyone down here in Dallas has a story about him.
He was always at the local rock clubs, and my buddy remembers seeing him at some show that had a no name group playing. They were rocking on stage and Dimebag was in the middle of the crowd just rocking out like everyone else.
It's really a shame he is gone.
BTW, ODB died about a month and year ago. Not a lot was said about his death and I just wanted to mention another person who we still miss.
