I am waiting as well. The 360 is impressive, but not worth +$500.00 worth of my money (the system, plus an extra controller, plus at least two games). I just recently read that the PS3 will be available with ALL the bells and whistles, not this crappy "GS" version and an LX version, for around 300-400 bucks. It just really pissed me off that Microsoft did that. They basically sucker'd poor kids who really couldn't afford to buy their new system anyway and left them with a stripped down version that will have to be upgraded within a year with periphials that are way overpriced. Seems to me that it's just another way for Bill to make more money.

Microsoft claims their system is the HD system. Is that so? Well the PlayStation 3 can run 1080p. 1080p on two televisions, at the same time. 1080P, on two tv's, running at ONE HUNDREND TWENTY frames per second.

Holy Epileptic Spasmastic Brain Seizure Batman.

Doesn't the human eye only recognize like 24 frames per second...?dunno.gif

bigeyes.gif but, ONE HUNDRED TWENTY!

Mircosoft says you should "Join in" in their ads. What if you and six other people want to "jump in?" Well, you and three people get to while the other 3 wait their turn. PlayStation 3 supports SEVEN wireless controllers per system. I'm drooling over the fact me and 4 people could play basketball against 5 other people online.

Jeez...
SEVEN wirless controlers from ONE unit. You could like cook TV Dinners in front of your PS3 from all the radiation.

I have been out of the gaming world for too long. I am still stuck on Tokyo Extreme Racer for Dreamcast and just moved up to GTA:San Andreas 02.gif

I gotta save up for a new TV too. My Samsung is nice, but damn, when I went back to home theater at work and saw this...

Sony SXRD HDTV

I freaked out. Go look at one in a store. It blew me away. I mean, right next to it in our Best Buy are plasma tv's and DLP's and this one stands out and looks better than any of them.

I need it in my life.

Did anyone else read about the Nintendo Revolution on IGN? They said the launch price might be as low as $99. If that is true, then those actually will sell really really really well. I'll get one at that price.

Revolution's controller is the gayest thing I've ever seen.

Tibbytib, MS is losing $126 on each 360 sold man. They aren't making a profit on those at all. It's better than the $150 they were losing on each Xbox 1 though.

With Sony leaving it's online play the way it is now, Xbox Live is gonna own even more. Plus, with the 360, you have a media center in your living room now, Sony can't offer that at all, and both of those have proven to be BIG DRAWS on the new 360 allready.

As for it being 300 to 400 bucks? Possibly, but I wouldn't belive it. Maybe 399 to 499. MAYBE. Still, the games are gonna be the exact same as they were before, same titles, same characters, same moves.

Ugh.

WOW, No one in their right mind would compare killzone to Halo. As far as game play is concerned, the XBox out hands down beats the playstation. The only thing that PS has over the Box is the number of game titles (eventhough most of them are on their fith installment of whatever series, LOL). And also it seems to me for it to be going in the same direction as the nintendo by bringing out a plethera of gadgets and differnt versions of the same console and like red said, no real online capability and same boring games since the first PSX.

I will def get xbox 360 of ps3
Yea in the first week they had problems with the limeted number they released. But so has sony every time they release a system and it always sems to be from overheating.

Then you have to get into optics and sony lenses they always fail. I have 3 ps2's here all dead lenses. And my friends have tons more. Sony lenses aren't reliable.

I cant believe that everybody is discounting the Revolution before anybody knows any concrete facts about it. Some are skeptical of the controller, and that is fine. But Nintendo has said that they will have another controller that will be more conventional to what gamers are used to. Aside from that, I love the innovation that Nintendo has shown. They continue to impress with me with good systems and fresh games that stray from the usual fps's or GTA themes. Do not forget that the majority of the video game industry was founded by the original Nintendo, and that Nintendo has a proven track record WORLDWIDE that cannot be overlooked. Do not count this contender out yet. They have always proven to at least stay competitive in the video game market, especially in the handheld department, and will not sit by and watch while Sony and Microsoft dominate.

Q: What kind of discs will games be distributed on?

A: That’s up to each developer. They have the option of distributing games for the PS3 on CD, DVD, or BD (Blu-ray Disc). BD supports capacities of 25GB for a single-layer disc, and 50GB for a two-layer disc.

Will Blu-ray discs require a cartridge?

No, the development of new low cost hard-coating technologies has made the cartridge obsolete. Blu-ray will instead rely on hard-coating for protection, which when applied will make the discs even more resistant to scratches and fingerprints than todays DVDs, while still preserving the same look and feel. The adoption of hard-coating will also allow manufacturers to downsize players/drives and lower their overall media production costs.

Warner Brothers. Did you know that the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive in the PS3 is one of the main reasons that Warner Brothers decided to back the Blu-ray standard? Now only one major studio hasn’t voiced support for Blu-ray (Universal).

Q: What about network connectivity? Does Sony have an answer to Xbox Live?

A: Sony is working hard on its online strategy, but details are still sketchy and subject to change. Here’s what we’ve heard so far. First of all, Sony realizes how far ahead Microsoft is with their Xbox Live system, so Sony is trying to respond to that. Sony is essaying to make the online service accessible by both the PSP and PS3 (and maybe even the PS2). Supposedly the service will be available upon the PS3’s launch. It will include associated friends lists, matchmaking and ‘intelligence’ services. It will continue to use the PS2 online model of allowing developers to independently set prices for their services. Link.

Two Displays. The interesting thing is that you can mix and match an HDTV with a normal SD TV. So if you buy a great HDTV to go with your PS3, don’t throw out that old set! You can use it to chat with friends while playing PS3 games! Or see stats, or anything else a second screen could come in handy for!

Wi-Fi. The PS3 supports IEEE 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, so it’ll connect to your Wi-Fi network, and your PSP as well!
