which period in history is your favorite?
mine is the middle ages.
i'm a big fan of the architecture that came out of that era...castles, palaces, and romanesque and gothic cathedrals. it also starts at the collapse of the largest empire in history. includes the crusades. it also includes a lot of important scientific discoveries, art, and engineering.

Belle Epoque in continental Europe and Victorian Era in England (same time frame)
Lots of wrought iron, giant glass train stations, carriages, gas lamps, all that stuff just really appeals to me.
The graphic novel, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen exemplifies this perfectly. All the politics and different Kingdoms, countries, Empires, etc is also really interesting.

The cold war--it had everything. spy vs spy, proxy-wars, covert and clandestine operations, the arms race and great surge in technology, plus the epic ideological struggle of capitalism vs communism. smile.gif

great topic!
I love the Victorian period most because men were real gentlemen, and women didn't feel offended if you held the door for them haha. but all of them are really fantastic and interesting at their heights! egyptian, roman, Zhou dynasty (Chinese)... i can't say there's a least favorite.
in Poland, this was a beautiful time. i think the Polish golden age of the Medieval era.
the uniforms we had were beautiful. i can't even describe how beautiful (although deadly) the times were without technology, overpopulation, graffiti, but life had more quality, more nature back then.
despite the dark history, i love WWII as well. the fighter planes were awesome.

I'm going with Pre-Columbian America.
Chasing buffalo across the plains, living in pueblo villages in cliffsides, building pyramids in the largest city in the world, it's all interesting. Partly due to a total lack of record keeping by most tribes, partly thorough desecration of the Mayan records by missionaries.
I like the middle ages in Europe also. I think I would have done well then.

This is kinda cool, they may have found Eldorado.
