Nissan has announced the launch of the all-new Skyline four-door sedan.
The Skyline was launched in 1957 and the latest Skyline is the eleventh generation. Previously it had a coupe body type (such as the GTR). The round rear tail lenses, which were the Skyline's symbol, have been discontinued and new L design tail lenses adopted.
The 3.0 liter V6 engine generates 191 kW/6,400 rpm and torque of 324 Nm/4,800 rpm.
The 2.5 liter V6 engine generates 158 kW/6,400 rpm and torque of 270 Nm/4,400 rpm.
The fuel consumption performance (JPN 10.15 mode) is 11.6km/liter for the 3.0 V6, and 12.0km/liter for the 2.5 V6. The fuel tank capacity is 80 liters. The 3.0 V6 engine range includes electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode, and the 2.5 V6 engine range includes electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode.
The new Skyline adopts the FM Package which is a front midship layout designed specifically for a V6 engine. The FM package provides a flat ride with little change in vehicle behaviour due to cornering forces or road surface changes, and attains zero lift by eliminating the body lift normally caused by aerodynamic resistance when cruising at high speed. The dimensions are as follows: length 4,675 mm x width 1,750 mm x height 1,470 mm x wheelbase 2,850 mm.
The new Skyline features an aluminum engine hood, 17" alloy wheels and 215/55VR tires for 3.0 liter versions, and 16" alloy wheels with 205/65SR tires for 2.5 versions. Standard equipment for all versions includes: a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, full automatic air-conditioning, remote power locks, xenon headlights and front foglights, and an MD/CD/cassette/AM/FM audio-system. The 3.0 liter versions feature a BOSE seven speaker audio-system. All seven versions also include dual front airbags, EBD and ABS, and brake assist.
The new Skyline versions are priced starting from JPY 2,650,000 to JPY 3,330,000. The monthly sales target for the domestic market is 2,000 units. Nissan plans to export and sell the new Skyline through the North American Infiniti channel as the G35.
