Default New shooting at Virginia Tech

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/08...ech/?hpt=hp_t3

Two people, including a Virginia Tech police officer, were dead after a shooting incident on Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg on Thursday, the university said.

Witnesses saw the police officer being shot during a traffic stop on campus, and the second victim was found dead at a nearby parking lot toward which the gunman had been seen fleeing, the university said. The status of the shooter was not immediately known, spokesman Mark Owczarski said.

The incident comes more than four years after a shooting spree in which a Virginia Tech student, 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui, shot dead 32 people on the campus before killing himself in April 2007.

No good, but at least it doesn't sound like a shooting spree.

back 50, 20 years ago this was unheard of on a mass scale (only in designated areas, not public/educational environments!). the crime/poverty rate has increased while nothing gets done. i know it's become a Police state, but who can blame them? there were a few cases like this in Maryland this year and every year that NEVER MAKE HEADLINES.

You have GOT to change your signature. Started a somber thread about a shooting on VTech, then have a bunch of dancing bananas... At first I didn't realize it was your sig, and was thinking "what is wrong with you?" Then realized it was your sig and LOL'd.

Not to say that this cop's death is not important, but how many cops are killed each week and never make national news? Only because it happened by the school and they hit the panic button did this make national news. Maybe it was the reaction of the school that kept that nut from hurting others, but we will never know since he took himself out. I really feel bad for the family, lost a loved one because of some !$!@ing nut job.
