Default How hard are mathematics for you?

Most professors will teach new subjects and algorithms and they will go through a few problems in class, then they will assign you a ton of problems to practice for homework.

Do you guys learn Math by doing countless practice problems or do you simply analyze the solutions, memorize the methods needed and apply them each individual time?

I really hate Math, BTW

Math was my toughest subject. I am great at the math I remember how to do, but not super good at remembering more advanced formulas and rules.

Math is about having fundamentals and understanding so you can work your way through the problem, not memorizing formulas and methods needed.

I look at my college experience as learning how to figure it out, not memorizing a book.

Being bombarded with problems shouldn't be to memorize how to do it, but understanding the methods you're taking to arrive at the conclusion, and finding simpler/easier ways to get there.

"the best mathematician is a lazy one"

I took that saying a little too literally, but still. I don't enjoy math at all, but I have to be reasonable at it to do the units that I want to do.

a teacher i had years back said that 'math is about seeing patterns'. its very true, you can't learn it properly by repetition. best way is to take the time to learn why that particular solution works. its just about logic mostly.

if you can get that part down, you won't have to remember equations again. you'll be able to make them up on the spot.
