I hope this is not off topic...but what the hell

When I get got wind of this site(RDT), i was like cool...i did not know anything about hyundai's, besides all the horror stories from the 90's...

everything i learn about my car is from here, and when i was newbie i wanted to to be spoon feed, but i realized that i will not learn anything without researching on my own.

Also, i registered with HT.com and have not posted or even been on the site in a long time...because i feel this is the best site for RD Tiburons, not to bash HT.com. But i rather be a member of a site that is car specific not just for all hyunadi's.

Even though people want to talk about "Man i just beat this civic in a street race," it has nothing to deal with tuning your ride...prove you beat a civic at a drag strip with video or timeslip...anybody could say anything...

But i love this site for what it is worth...and suggestions and comments should be handle according to the site rules...

I just wanted to give my 2 cents on the situation...

00tibby good luck with the new site

In order to run a sucessful and organized site, you need moderators that put their foot down. Most people in a "higher up" position are always making unintentional enemies. It happens everywhere in life, that doesnt mean that they haven't done their job sucessfully. Yes there might of been questionable decisions and comments made but I feel it was all for the good of the site. I think its hard to deny the wealth of knowledge and good things the group of moderators have done for this site. Redzman has been one of the integral people to bring an almost non-existant aftermarket of our cars to life. Personal issues aside I dont think anyone can take that away from him. Part of his success with the aftermarket is the fact that he is firm and at times stubborn.

I wish HT great success and hopefully one day they can bring as much influence and knowledge into the Hyundai aftermarket as Redz, Java and the rest of RDT has done already. I personally dont think there could be too much of a good thing.

I welcome HT and hope that these small differences can be overlooked and a relationship can be formed that will bring Hyundai tuning to the level it deserves.

I take it this is an argument about different sites? or such. It got long winded so I stopped reading. Honestly I do agree that sites support each other, BUT I also believe that beacuse everyone wants to have their own site they make so many of the same sites it fragments people getting to know each other. What good is 20 sites of Hyundai's all doing their own thing when you could have a great mass and awesome turn out o fpeople all on the same page. I don't have time to look over 10 sites in a day just to see what's going on. Of course this isn't a local forum for us east coasters but I like it and hope that an east coaster would relay east coast happeneing so I could get involved knowing about them.

I think of all the events and gathingerings I'm missing having info spread out all over, but then I also don't have the hours and hours to dig through multiple forums looking for 1 or 2 good threads of info.

Just my opinion and a post count +1 nothing important.

omg, thank you. everyone should read this post and listen to him.

anyone who thinks opening up another forum can benefit the community is flat out wrong. yeah, lets spread out the info and make it more time consuming and harder to find.

00tibby

you are full of shit. saying that all your words were aimed at redz and not at rd and then saying you want a massive surge in exposure of your website is the biggest direct contradiction ive ever seen in my life. dont put a mask of lies over you reasons for starting the new site. you dont like this site because we never gave you a shot to help run things after the big deal with tim and speedfactor. your need to fulfill your e-celebrity status was not done.

more lies just like the ones on the turbo kit. all this re-assurance that the quality and fitment of the kit was great and that you really had to sell for personal reasons in your for sale post and then swift going through all those troubles with it. you sold it because it wasnt the breeze you were expecting out of a bolt on kit and you couldnt deal with it.

faith, never had a problem with you and always considered you a pretty cool dude. but you started a site to directly compete with this site over your beef with redz, and i really do think you are as much to blame as redz's temper for that.

all you guys that are all about starting a new site to escape whatever suppression you feel is going on over here really are just selfish and letting your egos get the better of you. i dont know why you feel the internet is so important that you cant just grin and bear the few extremely simple and fair rules to make everything better for the entire mass. im not saying im perfect, but i do it all the time. contribute information, have some fun in the off topic sections, and maybe meet up with some cool people from the site...thats all that should be happening here. leave anything immoral, illegal, and whatever else you have in your mind that you wouldnt otherwise be able to blurt out in society without gaining a stamp of disapproval to the various websites strewn all throughout the internet where you can remain an anonymous asshole. wink1.gif

Thanks Tibby01. I have felt that way 4-ever. I know there's alot of cars to have 1 or 2 sites. But with my Toyota!!! Holy crap, Each gen starts another to be better than the old one, half the people know the others and leave and are now hanging out on a forum that doesn't cater to their car (which is fine) and the old forum dies. etc etc. When we try a meet, we have to get gens 4ag then 7 thru 9 corolla's, Celica, newcelica (ooooh), supra, mr2, track down where Solara's hang out, camry's etc. . then invite the Scion guys spread all out. it's an all day event to just bring up an idea and get 2-3 people from each only show up. I try to stick to the sites that are at one site then broken down in areas for you on local yet can be apart of the whole nation on tech talk and topics etc. I could care less about my ride, I just want to hang out and support others rides who like to talk about thier own. I'm old and don't need to show off and respect everyones efforts. Never the flaming type. RDT does a good job.

One thing I like about Hyundai. ITS WAAAAY easier to keep up as I do, somewhat (I'm not good at keeping up) as it's not huge and there is really one sports car (so I love seeing turbo'd elentra's etc). Of course I've only met one Tib driver yet ever and that was 4 years ago in Winchester. So we go to Toyota meets and I bring the Corolla and the wife shows of the Tiby by herself parked all the way at the end of the toyota row. Of course we like planning events so we are rarely outside looking at cars anyway unless someone has something new.

i just see no reason for the mods of RDT to hold anything against us at HT. its not like either site will be losing money or anything with the other existing. plus HT covers all hyundai's, not just RD's. along those lines elantraxd, elantraclub, elantraforums, crookedh, hyundaiforum, hyundaiperformance, hyundai-forums, seoulfulracing, hyundaiexchange, and so on would be considered a threat....
please being a mod dont set such an example. i still to this day love this forum, but it DOES have issues with the way its being modded. there are too many personal attacks, and mods putting people down. were here to support each other, and help one another. not to prove so and so knows more then the other, and instead of allways telling them to search, if you know the asnwer, just answer there question, it involves the same amount of work explaining there question, as it does telling them to search.
RDT could be a much better site with a very little work put in.

All of the moderators and admins are anxious to hear any suggestions you may have. We want the site to run as smoothly as possible. We spend time considering possible candidates for promotion and bringing on new moderators to help us be effective and efficient in running this site. We have implemented the Report button to continuously notify moderators of offensive threads and people use it frequently to report necessary updates to threads. I wish people would use it more, it's the best way to contact the staff about thread issues.

We just opened a position for SOCKS to become moderator, and have specific goals in mind for him to help better the community and our site. We have had issues with For Sale threads and companies not coming through, and he's been active already in helping sort that out. We are currently considering a few other candidates for moderator positions. We are always actively trying to improve the site, and it would be awesome if you could contribute any ideas you feel would be beneficial to the community. Don't be an armchair quarterback, BECOME INVOLVED.

It's surprising that you said, "i just see no reason for the mods of RDT to hold anything against us at HT"
I don't believe anybody has anything against HT, at all. I personally don't think it's good to have multiple forums. As darkchylde said, it is much easier to get information you need from one giant pool than several small puddles. I understand you're trying to make it a general Hyundai site, and I have no problem with it even if you were to target RD Tiburons. That's fine. I choose to put 100% of my effort into RDT and answering/helping over here. I'll occassionally check HP, HA, NewTib and offer assistance, but my focus is here with our members. I have no problem with HT, or the moderators/admins involved. Don't turn this thread into a moderator battle between HT moderators and RDT moderators. It's NOT. A few people have strong feelings about what's going on, but you're generalizing all moderators at RDT when most haven't given any input on the situation. This is my first attempt to address the situation, so nobody could know my thoughts or feelings towards HT unless they were inside my head.

I agree, the moderators and admins have to be firm to keep everything in order and keep a great community functioning. While our moderators are FIRM, they aren't hard asses like some other websites. NewTib won't even allow you to place another forum's address in your signature!! We haven't taken it that far, and they have changed my Signature at NewTib a few times because I LISTED a few other hyundai sites. Faith wouldn't be allowed to have the same signature if he used it at NT.

Please people, give us suggestions if you see problems. We have run off a few members in the past... I would say way less than 10. I don't want to start naming them, but I feel it was for the best of the community. Most of them could not follow the rules and continuously started topics that would turn into a huge fiasco and were reported by other members. We did what we feel was best for the community with our banning, and though we do issues warnings to people (not enough IMO) less than 4 people ever get close to being banned for it.
