i dunno of where sites would be to look, google would own.

I know that tuning in general started with the Model T, when people finally could afford a car they wanted to see who could make theirs faster (all were same stock) back then it was relatively easy to remove factory restrictions and nearly double their hosepower and start racing.

I suppose import tuning was something similar, except with younger people. Before imports the only cars young people could afford to own were mom's hand me downs that they had to struggle to keep running. Imports came along and gave the youth a cheap way to get around, people are greedy and wanted to buy a cheap car and prove themselves by making it faster from the slug the factory gave them

They can really be considered two revoloutions at two different times, but under very similar economical reasons.

Not sure how much this helps but it may spark some ideas. Good luck!

Also look at the prohabition that helped racing and moding alot. Because the rum runners alll wanted to be the fastest to get away from the cops. There was a huge thing about it on I think the History channel, so check their website probally.

^^^I think this guy is serious.

If you have the DVD, there's a special feature on it that covers the racer X thing and where the import scene started. Check it out.

^^ No I wasn't serious.

I watched only half of fast and the furious 1 and I refuse to watch #2 and especially #3. I really hate Asian actors and Asian directors.

I figured you were serious because of the special feature that's on it.

But anyways, check it out. You could probably get some good info from it.
