The consensus is: Almost nothing modern, and if so, hardly practical.
Thanks for participating, as "japcrap" owners (my friend calls them that) you've mostly all selected big, guzzling, hugely impractical cars, yet you all (mostly) own efficient imports.
Interesting. I will compile this data for my friend.

Thats because when people are talking hypothetical, they're assuming they're in a better financial place.
I'd prolly take a new vette or a cobra, GTO's arent bad either... if it had to be cheaper or economical than that i would rock an srt-4...

Yeah, like if you retitled this "If you had to own an import..." Do you think anyone would go in there saying "A TIB!!" ? .. lol. Everyone is going to be saying like "Ferrari," Bugatti," "Porsche," etc..
You should have put REALISTICALLY in the "rules." Assume you totaled your tib, you got the insurance check back from it, and had to buy a domestic. Then you'd get wayy different answers. I'm guessing more like what you were assuming, Cavalier, Neon, etc.
If I could afford a Lotus, or a GTO, I wouldn't be driving the tib. lol.

I'm glad you included the word mostly....I posted a pic of mine...lol
Although I'd trade it in a minute for this:
2009 Pontiac G8 (This is the GXP) But I sat in a GT at the dealership and its like sitting in a BMW. Plus it has 400hp, and RWD.

EDIT: Completely missed the post by SOCKS.....oh well, its a nice looking car, I'm leaving the pic....

Actually... I would still be driving a Tib...
Just a Tib with the Tesla drivetrain smile.gif
Mostly stock looking with custom paint.
yeah, if there was supposed to be a point to this thread, im sure people would have picked differently.. but when you ask something general like what would you drive, gives the impression of 'what would be your car if you could afford it'
there would be like 2 or 3 people on here that would actually pick the tib if they had 40-50k$ floating around, much less choose an import.
if ya said, what american car would you be driving if you were in the same financial situation you are now, and had a budget of 10k$, the answers would be much different.

Just because your imagination got the best of you isn't my fault!!
LOL look at all of you, trying to "justify" it now that you've fallen in on your own self-made traps!!
I posed a simple question! I do believe I've answered it! Nate, you especially should not be back tracking!
I am in a good financial situation to afford almost all the cars posted. However:
I dunno about you, I was speaking hypothetical when I chose an 11 year old J body....
I asked a simple question: if I had to....
I believe the question was simple enough! Because you guys attach innatainable vehicles is your take. My take is... shit, do I really need to keep going?
My car rocks. It's been on this planet for 22 years, doing quite well. cool.gif

my choice still stands. I've always wanted one of those car/trucks, lol. and a diesel wouldn't be too bad for me either, although back then they were clanky as all hell and once you go past 50% throttle you pour black smoke on whoevers behind you, haha.
but i'm happy with my 37 year old car (import), and realistically.. I don't see myself ever having to buy a domestic.
Cool thread.
