So the other day I hit a giant pothole and bent my rim.. Then later I got pulled over. I just wanted some ideas on how to fix it. My friend took a brick and wrapped a sweatshirt around it, put it against the dent and smacked the brick with a rubber mallet to bent it back. good idea? any other ideas?

I would have just used the rubber mallet. Contact your local racing websites and see who they recommend to do wheel repairs locally, then get a quote.

Thats not too bad. Check out my rim I posted in Showroom. A local guy around here charges between 100-150 to fix bent rims. You'll probably be looking at around the same where you are. One thing I can tell you is that the rim will look ok after being bent back, but it never will be the same. Balancing it will be difficult and its not worth to drive around on it all time. I'm having my rim bent back to shape, but I'll be using it strictly as a spare in case one of my tires pop. You're best bet is to buy a new rim, and do the same for your bent one.

Good luck though.

Hey I was just in Lancaster this weekend. Went to rising park and donatos!

Anyways unless its a really expensive wheel buying another is your best option. If it looks ok after the rubber mallet then even better!

let out some anger on that thing with a heavy rubber mallet, you should be able to get it close.

i would have hit mine with a rubber mallet and maybe leather on there, but i just ended up buying a new rim. vizionz got the government to pay for the damage. i should have too. you should try it as well. worst that could happen is you lose 35c postage.
