Default i think my gen2 tib is cool

am i among a few that think our gen2 tibs are cool? i mean, at sema, what did you see? oooh, the new v6. it's so kewwl because it has a v6 and it looks more mainstream, kinda like the new eclipse. wow, mainstream is cool. let's make products for it. i didn't go, so i didn't see what else was there, but the only pics i saw were of gen3's. that's gay. there were two that had intercoolers. i thought the new v6 was too weak for boost? hmm, i like my gen2.

Yeah..unfortunately, that's the way it goes. Companies are only gonna put out parts for the newest best thing on the market. And like you said, since the 3rd gen's come with a 6 cylinder and have a sleek style to them, companies are jumping on the badwagon to produce parts. It's good and bad. Good because it's helping to put Hyundai on the map more and more, but bad because it screws us 1st and 2nd gen owners. frown

I think you guys should be happy, not that the new Tib is getting all this aftermarket attention, but because it'll probably have a 'trickle-down' effect. I think the new Tib has the spot-light on it now, and all heads are turned its way, but there are a few people that see the rest of the Hyundai's in the background. With time they'll realize that these cars need some 'attention' too. Just my opinion.

i already thought of what you said, accentgs, but it's the point. perhaps, i was just ranting at how much i dislike what auto makers do when that make a car more mainstream for the US market. like how they took the turbo off of the lancer and imported it because we round-eyes can't handle stock turbos.

I don't think we need racism here, even if you are talking about yourself... secondly, Hyundai made the new Tiburon different because thats what carmakers do to make their cars sell... that can't keep making the same thing of people will stop buying their cars... don't get mad at Hyundai cuz you have a 2nd gen... to me this post makes no sense....

it's not racism if i'm saying it about myself. and i'm not critisizing hyundai for redoing the tib, i'm critisizing them for making a car that's gay, slow, and mainstream. it's the same thing mitsu did with the eclipse. and i'm critisizing the aftermarket companies for not making products for the gen 1 & 2 tibs. i realize that there were products made, but as soon as the new tib came out, all of the BIG companies were all over it.

I still dont see your point. Like the other guys said you should be happy that HYUNDAI in general is being seen in the eyes of the "BIG BOYS". IMO it's just a matter of time before they (meaning the "BIG BOYS") will see the truly tremendous potential of these extremely underrated Korean machines of all ages.

I also know where you are coming from I also owned a 2000 and I also went through the aftermarket frustrations. GIVE IT TIME brother thats all I can say. I may be wrong, but I hope not.

What are you looking to do with your 2nd gen?

P out,
Börg

i'm looking to turbo it. i know that there are kits out there. it's just the point that all the ricers drive civics and they get SOOOOO much attention. i realize that there is an aftermarket for 1st and 2nd gen tibs, it's just that i'm frustrated with the fact that civics, integras (even though the gs-r was bad), and the celicas (even though the gt-s was bad) get all the attention. not to mention the new civic with v-tec. oh, i'm sorry, i mean the rsx. i got confused because it looks like a glorified civic. i know civics are realiable and cheap, and i'm guessing hyundai will eventually gain the repuatation that they deserve, such as one like the civic for reliability and price. i just wanted to rant. basically, i want to rant and rave against hondas (acuras) and toyotas. ya know, the mainstream stuff. btw, i loved the g2 eclipse. then, because americans think bigger is better, they take the turbo off of the L4 and make it a V6. i mean, it has more cylinders, so it has to be faster, right? at least that's the american attitude, so that's what mitsu did, and that's the direction hyundai's going, even though they never turbo'd the tib. let's give the v6 a weaker block than the l4, so you can't turbo the v6. therefore, the l4 (gen 1 and 2) is better.

hey, i love my 2000. I still think my car is more sexy than the 3rd gen, but i now like the 3rd gen. A lot of critics are praising it also. But remember, the 2nd gen was good also. before I got mine, i read a article on my local paper (automotive section) and they were praising... well at least commenting on how the car was nicely put together. I like mine for the unique style and the MANY STANDARD FEATURES! that sold me, instead of buying a used RS eclipse (crappy, only the GST or GSX are good). Just remember that the 3rd Gen is putting Hyundai on the map. And when i can afford it, i'll put Hyundai on the local region also (turboed)! yeah! anyways, I still think we have a good engine in our cars.
