Default I DITCHED HYUNDAI!!for honda....

hey all,
okay so here is the thing, my automatic 1999 elantra was probably the slowest car on the road, in acceleration that is, cuz i got it to go up to 125 mph, but neways. i stopped driving my hyundai and bought a 1996 ACURA INTEGRA GSR!! and its a green 4-door too. but let me tell you, VTEC is the coolest thing ever created, next to blow-off valves. This car is ten times faster then my hyundai could ever be, its 5-speed, i love it! i just wanted you all to know it makes my old elantra look like crap, in all ways!!! I love my HONDA!

First off, congrats on buying a car that you're happy with. However, [start sarcasm] more congrats is in order for owning something that you see every single day on the road and isn't as unique as your elantra. Although the GSR's are rare (if it is a TRUE GSR), the Elantra has better styling and the engine will hold up alot better over time than the Acura's will. Just one question though. You said bought a 5 speed GSR. How come you didn't buy a 5 speed Elantra? You would of noticed the quickness of the Elantra quite easily had you purchased a manual. And for the price that you paid for the GSR, you could of added alot more go-fast and styling goodies to your Elantra.

Oh well. Your cash, your car. Good luck with it, and hope you don't have too many issues with the engine and tranny.

Congrats on your purchase but you can't compare APPLES to ORANGES. In this case; a Hyundai Elantra (subcompact, affordable, transportation which was never advertised as FAST by any means, with automatic transmission), to a 1996 Acura GSR (sport compact, fast out of the box, 5-speed, etc. and so on). You are speaking of 2 different classes of cars.

Flame - VTEC is the coolest thing created? *LOL - insane maniacal laughter* Next to BLOW-OFF VALVES??!! ROTF. OMG! I am in tears...... hahahahaha. That, my friends, is signature material and I HAVE DIBS....

I'd have to agree. going from an automatic to a 5spd is as different as night and day.

Yes, Acura is Honda's luxury/prestige division. The cars are built by Honda. The Integra is based heavily on the Civic, with very similar suspension etc.
Just about any Acura model's roots can be traced back to a Honda model... very few Acuras (aside from the NSX, of course) do not share many mechanical parts with a Honda car of some description.

And there is no Acura overseas. Cars like the NSX, Integra, RSX, Legend etc are/were all called Hondas in Europe and Japan.
