i know veggie eaters...one when i was in my early teens and my barber and his family...and they are all healthy...he told me that it is something that you just dont jump into...my barber said it was easy giving up fish, red meat, and pork...and it took him 3 yrs to give up chicken...and he has been a veggie eater for about 7yrs and his son is 5 or 6 and has never had meat...

I wanted to do this...but i gave up when i realized that im in the Navy and it would be to hard

Negetive shipmate. It's very easy. You see, Navy food makes me very very tired and cranky. Even when it's not fresh, I would eat the salad at the salad bar(no dressing). Sometimes when I go out-to-sea for a short time, I pack vegetable soup. It's easier being a vegetarian in the Navy than Civilian life.

See thats the thing, when we mention how vegans or vegetarians look terrible, are skin and bones, and are constantly sick the response we get is "oh well thats because they took it too far"

Well then give us the same credit, people who have health problems due to eating meat took it too far too. If your arteries are clogged and your 400lbs with high blood pressure, my guess is you may have ingested too many fatty foods and could benefit from a nice healthy diet

But if your 6'0", 180lbs, 3% body fat, never broken a bone, great blood pressure, a good healthy temperament, and catch a cold maybe once a year (me) then i suppose youll be just fine continuing to eat meat. fing02.gif

right, but vegans are different from vegetarians.

vegans are the vegetarians that took it to far. wink1.gif

all the vegetarians i know are super healthy. they stick to vegetables, but still eat eggs and some will even eat fish(even though technically it doesnt make them vegetarian) for protein.

and if you're 3% body fat than im impressed. thats beyond the most lean bodybuilders in the world.

I'm 30% body fat.. It shows. I'm not proud, but I don't plan on getting skinny anytime soon.

Heh, I am 5'11", 165-170 lbs.. I do not know my body fat, only ever broke a toe and my tail bone, and last time I had my blood pressure checked, I was really ill.. and it still only read 112 over 55.. not too shabby for being 37.

I might also add that I have no weird aches and pains. I generally feel just as good now as when I was 21.. if anything I feel better as when I was 21, I was going through a nasty bout with my intestinal problem

the only meat I eat is fresh fish. They're called Pescetarians (Part Vegetarians/Part fish eaters). I'm lactose intolerant, so no dairy for me. except when I crave for Pizza with loads of Tomato and Jalapenos

I'm 6'9" and 165lbs. Last I checked, I was about 4% body fat. Been a vegetarian/flexitarian (vegetarian when possible) for about 8 years. And I eat like a horse, ask my family or anyone at work wink1.gif
