I went on HP about a year ago and the site gave me a bad virus. It destroyed my harddrive and I lost a lot of stuff. Everyone I talked to says that Autoguide sites are notorious for getting viruses and passing it on to users. It comes from the ads they display. I thought about sending the bill from my computer to Autoguide and HP but I'm sure that would have went right out the window. I will never bother with that site again and I have warned numerous other Hyundai owners to stay away for their own good.

I got a virus too and the ads are serious adware. Dont believe me? Download spybot, update the definitions, and run it. Then go to HP and click around on the forum. Now run spybot again and be shocked.

The very first thing I do when visiting any forum is to look at the dates of topics in each section. When you see the most recent topic is 2 or 3 years old, thats my queue to leave to not go back.

One of the biggest problems companies are facing is the huge increase in Java exploits through banner ads. Unpatched Java, Browsers, or Operating Systems can make you VERY vulnerable.

Many companies (including mine) are only allowing internet traffic on their network through a proxy, forced by WebSense clients installed on workstations, and this proxy is disabling many Java instances such as banner ads.

Banner ads are the devil!

Visionz (a valuable friend and highly skillful person in more ways than just IT) put it into perspective in the best possible way.

There are model-specific forums that by the orientation of the forums both HA and HP cannot reach out to everyone. They have some useful members but most are merely newcomers looking for thrills and not true long-term enthusiasts like the honorable and founding members found here (we existed years before Vin Diesel was an actor lol!).

I haven't been on HP for years (2004-2007). I used to post there and always got one or two responses from someone but if I remember correctly, it got sold and some of its new loyal servants were paid to enforce and modify posts.

For me life is too short to be controlled, enforced, bureaucratized, communized, and banished for every minuscule thing. Lots of people choose to live in gated HOA-controlled communities (which have their benefits like organization, cleanness, and security gates). Others like me prefer flexibility and would never, ever, ever, ...ever live in one. I think HA has brought the best of worlds making it a fun pleasant place to come back to that HP unfortunately did not offer.
