I dont know much specifically but I got the general ideas down; Natural foods, stay away from anything partially hydrogenated, or artifical flavors. Dieting is bad, you want to properly nurish yourself not limit food because your going to be even hungrier with all the muscle you will be building. And try not to do too much too fast or ull be sore and want to quit and can possibly damage ur muscles. Taking vitamins wil also help you if you cannot get them out of food. And make sure you EAT BREAKFAST.. a real breakfast, no dounuts and fruity pebbles and shit. Bananna's, eggs, etc.

You seemed to be focused more on weight training and muscle mass rather than toning, cardio and weight loss.

I agree though, don't "DIET" as in starve yourself. If losing weight is the goal, you need a smaller stomach, so eat smaller portions but still meals. Eat proper foods, not microwaveables and empty carbs (chips, coke, etc.)

ok so more servings a day but smaller portions, make sure i eat breakfast, eat alot of veggies (more colourful the better - darker greens better), stay away from fast foods, microwave foods, make sure i'm excercising on a regular basis.

so here are the things i don't mind eating: fish, beef, chicken, green string beans, broccoli, colliflower (sp?), green/red peppers, carrots, lettus,
i gotta try eating more peanuts if its that good for me, and i'll try some sort of protein shake.

so what about milk? should i drink a lot of that? i drink 2% dont really like skimmed although i'm sure its better for me. I love raisin bran cereal; good choice ? eating alot of rice good? i eat rice almost everyday as i am chinese lol.. what about bread? i heard bread is not good or something. Does Nestle Icetea count as soda? should i stay away from that? what about fruitopia? i drink a lot of tropicana orange juice with pulp what about that?

how is flavoured water? i drink a lot of that too, or should i just stick to regular water, i don't really like drinking normal water. Have you heard of propel by gatorade? i drink propel quite frequent, at least 2-3 500ml bottles a day. It says its a vitamin suppliment drink.

any other foods that might be a good idea to start eating?

majik: yeea, well i used to be very active playing sports and stuff all the time but then i got a leg injury and i wasnt able to play as much so basically over the past year and a bit i've been gaining a lot of weight, well my actual weight hasn't changed much but i could feel more fat on my bones and getting love handles and stuff. So what i'm tryin to do is lose all that fatty crap i've gained but i want to focus on weight training too. So on my workouts i do weight training and cardio.

thanks for all the tips and info guys.. keep em comin if you got more!

or just eat normally and run your butt off. I dunno how it is now, but when my father was in the military, they gave him the most unhealthy, cheap food to eat and only in 3 minutes (he was in te 82nd air borne division) they just did nothing but train, all day long... running with full gear , etc.etc.

Another example, olympic swimmer phelps, i forget his first name, but I read an article about him a year or so ago about what he eats--its pure grease, but he swims like 8 miles a day and burns it all away.

Obviously you want to eat healthy but if you work hard enough it dont matter wat you eat (TO A POINT.. of course)

he can eat greasy food all day long and then swim his butt off and not look fat, but his arteries are clogging up with all that junk.

His name is Michael. I don't know much about if your arteries will be ok or not seems like the exercise would work it off no problem though. You wouldn't believe how much some of the thin swimmers eat though.

Does anyone know te best way to gain muscle and stay the same weight. I have been switching from a higher cal day maybe 3000 and working out cardio and anerobic. Then if I gained any weight then Ill lose it in a day or 2. Is this the best way or keep a constant meal. BTW I used to be 225 but Im now 171 or 172, if i get up to 173 Ill drop back down. Thanks

Romaine lettuce is really good for you, Almonds and walnuts are better then peanuts..peanuts are more fatty, almonds have omega 3s you need; though you shouldnt eat too much almonds either, because they are also a little fatty.

Skim milk is much better, because theres no fat in it. Raisin bran is okay but might have tons of sugar in it..Id choose something like Total and add raisins or fruits in it..much healthier. Rice
isnt good for you unless its brown rice. Wheat bread is good for you..regular bread is loaded with carbs and not much else.

Nope the iced tea doesnt count as soda, but it does contain a lot of sugar. Tropicana juice is real good for you, lots of Vitamin C. With water, Id stick with regular water but you can buy some flavors for it..just make sure they dont contain tons of sugar. Gatorade isnt bad but does contain a good amount of sugar and water is actually better.

phew lol

I'm mostly agreeing with Swift...

I wouldn't drink SWEETEND tea (I'm from Nashville, all tea is sweet tea here... loaded with sugar). Drink water instead.

Wheat bread is better than white, and peanuts aren't GREAT for you (contain sodium and fat) but are better than some alternatives for snacks.

Romaine lettuce is much better than iceberg. Iceberg contains almost no nutritional value. Romaine is good for calcium... Red tipped leafy lettuce is better than romaine, but I call it giraffe lettuce, makes me feel like I'm eating leaves mad.gif

i love red leaf, but a good caesar salad sure does hit the spot.

and also no bread is really good for you, its just that wheat is better than white.
