Google Maps. Creepy Yet Cool!
I was just screwing around on google maps because I am buying another car (thats 5 personal vehicles now LOL!) and I wanted to see if it was on google earth. Well I ended up on google maps which has a new feature called street view. They literally have camera shots or something driving down streets. I found my house!

What they did was use a VW beetle and drive around with a ball with a ton of cameras spinning. Its very cool but some people are pissed about privacy stuff. Whatever, I like it. None of my cars can be seen for my house mad.gif

Wow, that's crazy!! Still just the big cities though, need them to do more yet.
Still can't figure out how a bunch of spinning cameras can do all that, but good for them!

I dunno about spinning, but they take a 360 degree picture every so often and log it into their database or something. It's kinda cool. I'm sure they could make a 3D walk through of a city using that technology instead of a 2D Panoramic view every 100 feet or so though
A guy at work was showing us his house back in his home town. We were joking around that we saw the neighbor comming out of his front door. It could be a privacy issue.

What it was originally, from what i understand, was updating the gps database. Probably to be sold to Garmin, and whoever else. Anyway, someone decided lets put a spinning camera on a car and take photos. And this was built off of it. They said it was a spinning ball with I think like 12 cameras on it. If you move the camera around you can see down at the car or into the sky.
About privacy, if you are in a photo or whatever you can write with a good picture of yourself and a photo id copy along with the coordinates where you are found and have yourself edited out of that scene. I dont think they would have to though. I can drive anywhere and take a phot from the street.

^right but license plate numbers... and if you're a crook looking to rob someone's house. looking for a certain car like gone in 60 seconds...etc. killer stalker... unibomber, rapist, drug smuggler... god knows.
Dude I love that movie. Ill have to watch it now. I suppose, but I dont think they could be held liable for that at all. That would take forever trying to find a certain car though.
