Just got pulled over not too long ago.
he said my car was disturbing the peace and
my turn signal lights arent yellow. I just had my car
inspected today, i told the officer that and he said its
against the law for my car and what not. So now i have to
appear in court and shit for a loud muffler and wrong lights. evil.gif
anyone got advice? i still got my inspection paper from today saying everything was good to go on my car.

well... question is... did you get it inspected before or after he pulled you over... there are two scenarios here.

scenario 1.... he pulled you over and then you got it inspected. for all the court knows, you have a loud vehicle and your lights were wrong and you changed them and then got it inspected saying that everything was ok.

scenario 2.... you have it inspected and everything is ok then you get pulled over. the court can still get ya on the loud muffler (the infamous disturbing the peace charge) but as far as i can tell... you can get out of the light deal if inspection did in fact pass you.

i probably am not much help but those are probably what you are looking at with the courts depending on the order of events

you know.. did anybody read up on the noise problem in California? As most know, the CHP was doing their best to issue tickets for "loud mufflers" and other mods. Well, to make a long story short, for a short time there you could get your car's noise decible tested for free at any smog station... MOST cars that got a ticket were under the limit for noise.

i got it inspected during the day
then i got pulled over.
this is the 2nd time ive been pulled over
b/c they say my car is too "loud".
When i was done getting pulled over, i saw
an integra getting on his car like hell
he drive past the cop and the cop just kept driving by.
makes no sense. Its gonna be a fun day in court.

Default KDM Look?

First i don't know if they offer court supervision where your from or if you are even qualified to get it...I work for a circuit clerks office in Illinois and i know here that it's alot easier just to pay the tickets and get court supervision than it is to hire a lawyer and pay all of the legal fees...My advise if you are offered court supervision whether you have to take a class or whatever do that. The courts usually seem to get the best of you.

I would change your turn signals to yellow for when you go to court. When they ask about it, say you replaced them with yellow and they'll probably rip up the ticket.

As for the muffler, I would take the paperwork with you and see what they say. Make the comment that your car really isn't loud, and it's nowhere near as loud as ANY factory motorcycle. Unfortunately, it's probably true :-/

I live in North Carolina. Some local guys around here were telling me that all i would have to do is pay a court fee of 125$. They ask if i got it fixed and say yea. The thing is right after i got pulled over me and my friend check my lights, there not white. So yea iam gonna keep my inspection paper.

a friend of mine, got a ticket for 'excesive noise' in his 67 acadian )canadian version of a nova).. he asked the court, 2 things.. a) how loud is too loud? and B) at what decible is it too loud? as there are many trucks.. that are stock, which are louder then his.. And so, he asked the court to get a db metter, and verify it.

what could win in court is if you bring up a Harley Davidson. an exhaust on a Harley is not even close to as loud as an exhaust on almost ANY import.
Also, the "disturbing of the peace" is a judgement call, and who is to say that this particular cop's judgement is correct?
your inspection information is important. bring that along.

good luck!
