I guess they're hurting for money so bad that they're resorting to suing their own customers.

If I had a mustang, I'd sell my car and drop all loyalty to Ford, seriously.
We better watch out for those calendars we made......... owned.gif

I got some more info from the folks at cafepress and according to them, a law firm representing Ford contacted them saying that our calendar pics (and our club's event logos - anything with one of our cars in it) infringes on Ford's trademarks which include the use of images of THEIR vehicles. Also, Ford claims that all the images, logos and designs OUR graphics team made for the BMC events using Danni are theirs as well. Funny, I thought Danni's title had my name on it ... and I thought you guys owned your cars ... and, well ... I'm not even going to get into how wrong and unfair I feel this whole thing is as I'd be typing for hours, but I wholeheartedly echo everything you guys have been saying all afternoon. I'm not letting this go un-addressed and I'll keep you guys posted as I get to work on this.
I'm sorry, but at this point we will not be producing the 2008 BMC Calendar, featuring our 2007 Members of the Month, solely due to Ford Motor Company's claim that THEY own all rights to the photos YOU take of YOUR car. I hope to resolve this soon, and be able to provide the calendar and other BMC merchandise that you guys want and deserve! This thread will remain open for you to comment however you wish, and I'll update it as needed.
Thanks for all your support of the BMC!!

so what? ford wants to print the calendars for them?
WTF?
Seriously, it just serves to inflate interest in Ford's product. Then again, those ARE modified cars and maybe it's not the image that Ford wants.
It's really funny how all of the regulars have put a sensored logo over their avitars.

Wow how retarded is ford! Thats the dumbest thing ever. Whats dummer is a riced out mustang in nbc's knight rider remake. Sucks hyundai took a ford truck engineer to design their cars. No wonder the new hyundais are uglier than ever.
if i ever owned a mustang (never) the for sale sign would go up immediately.

Actually they own the intelluctual property rights. I have been through this with Chevrolet. Dodge, Toyota, Ford and Nissan are all doing the same. I guess the issue is the selling of the photos. You can take photos of your own car but you can't sell them. pftt.
When I first heard about it a couple years ago I told them all to de-badge their cars and continue taking photos.. But I guess it's more than that. If you read the Ford article they are claiming ownership of the vehicle's design not just it's badges or logo.. jebus..
I have always thought it to be strange that millions of cars are running around with their manufactuers advertisments on them and nothing is paid to those individuals. With all this legal BS I think someone should turn it around and have the companies pay them to keep the badges on.

^lol, just open up any jegs/summit/year one/ etc. And there's going to be signs, pictures, other memorabilia unlicensed by the automotive companies for sale... Thats seriously ridiculous.
What do photographers do? I guess your not allowed to get your senior picture taken with your mustang anymore. The photographer isn't allowed to sell those photos!
