I am unsure if that applies to people who owe money.. as far as I know, that only applies to telemarketers, and even then there is a clause that they can call you if they have had prior business dealings with you in the last year or so.

However.. you CAN request that they stop calling you. Ask to speak with their manager or somebody in charge and tell them politely that you are NOT the person they are trying to reach, that the person they are trying to reach does not live there and you do not know them. Explain that what they are doing to you is harrassment and that you would like it to stop.

 

That's exactly what we've done TWICE before. We've spoken to the manager and told them the situation. They keep saying they'll get it taken care of, but we'll get a call days later. I guess next time, I'm gonna have to get names and go to the top of their channels.

You tell them one last time who you are and that the other person no longer has that phone #.

We did the same thing when we got our old land line phone, they stopped calling.

 

Hey if ya have caller id you'll know when they call. And when they do take an air horn and blow it into the phone. I gurantee they will never call again.
