My girlfriend moved in with me and hooked up the house phone in her name. Ever since then, she's (we've) been getting calls from Conn's. Apparently there's a lady that hasnt been paying her bills at all and she has the same last name as my girlfriend. We've told them several times not to f***ing call my house anymore. It's at all hours of the day and its annoying the f-ing hell out of us, and me most of all. My girlfriend is being somewhat nice about it and talking to the manager and explaining the situation. They say they'll take care of it, but it never happens. We'll get the same call asking for the same lady.

Any legal advice, or do I need to start killing telemarketers?

My mom had the same exact problem. Luckily my cousin is married to a lawyer, and we got the address that the people we wanting payment sent to. So we got my cousins husband to write them a letter threatening legal actions (sueing them) if they didnt stop calling us. (same kind of laws as the "Annoying Someone Via The Internet Is Now A Federal Crime" thread) We never heard frrom them again.

We've (GF) asked them not to call several times before.

We dont have caller ID. It's just a second phone to the cell phones so we dont run up the minutes.

Do you know who I contact to inform them about the harassment?

Easy.

GO put your number on the national "Do Not Call" registry.

You can do it online in about 10 seconds.

Then, next time they call, politely ask for the name of the company calling and for their contact phone #. Also, get whatever "Badge" # or whatever you can. After that, inform them that you are on the national do not call registry and you are sending their information in for the $500 fine per time they call you.
