Your online identity is a little bit more in need of security than your real one.

Let's say a hypothetical situation arose where you needed to prove that that was in fact your car. You should be able to get real pictures with your plate or whatever showing.

If you go to importshark.com they blur out the background of the pictures plus put their little ImportShark plate thingie on there.

You can never be too careful over the net.

Don't see how that's an issue. They can't do anything without proof of some wrong doing.

Over here, they have every right to check if your car is actually road-registered. If it so happens that it is, they can request that you take your car into the nearest RTA (Roads & Traffic Authority) checking station to have it looked over... Or worse yet, just hang around your house & wait for you to take a drive (then you'd have zero time to "legalize" your car).

I'm not saying that this is common practice, nor is it a regular occurrence but the possibility is always there.

And we now have these new "hoon" laws, that mean that the cops can fine you and/or impound your car if you have a modified car and they suspect that you have been doing dangerous/illegal thing in your car, or even if your ICE system is to loud.
So most of the time I hide my plates, but sometimes I forget.

Cops don't need proof of wrong doing, they will pull you for whatever they feel like and then find it. And if they don't find it, they will make something up. At least the ones looking to find something wrong to begin with.

If a cop thinks you might have illegal mods just because your car looks like the type, something as trivial as procedure and law isn't going to prevent them from pulling you for a BS reason, such as swerving, not using a turn signal long enough, or speeding. That's big business for cops where I live, since richmond is the rice capitol of the mid-atlantic.

Proving that someone online is actually who they say they are, and proving that it was indeed them who posted the info, is practically - if not COMPLETELY - impossible.

Another scenario:

Posts to a modification forum show photos of your vehicle with visible license plates being illegally modifed. We now have reasonable suspicion and can search your vehicle.

Fortunately, most cops don't know how to use the interweb.

"hoon"

^ discrimination to us P platers. lmao.gif

The reason why i cover the plates is because i see most other ppl doing it. Its not a pain to do, so i just do it.

But, The funniest thing is when you look at car classifieds and you see the scribbled out plats but if you read the info they give the plates anyway. lmao.gif
