Cottonmouth In Florida?
alex, where in fl are ya? i've seen a corvette-davidson zipping around my area. but no lambo's or ferraris around here (maybe 1 lambo)...
and for those of you who think fl is the shit-... i live here and there are a few things florida is known for-... material for jerry springer's next 7 seasons, cadilacs and cateracs, newly weds and nearly deads. also keep in mind alot of us dump money into our cars so just remeber how powerful a hurricane is.
aside from all of that, is there interest in a florida meet while a bunch of rd's and rdfolks are down here?

Yay Florida...we have deadly snakes, deadly spiders, alligators in every mud puddle, hurricanes, we're the lightning capital of the US, and there are millions of old people trying to run you off the road. Those are the good points...
We were located near the tampa bay area on the west coast of FL.
Actually I havent found anything really wrong with FL. I read some statistics and only 16% of FL's population is retirees..thats not bad. Ranked 5th in the nation. Where my dad lives and we're planning to move to, its awesome. We didnt encounter any bugs with the door open all day, no alligators, nada. I personally think west and east coast FL is really different...west coast seems to be a little calmer.
As for hurricanes..Im not fretting about it. Shelters, evacuation routes, the states pretty prepared. What I said is thats the downfall of living in almost paradise..every state has its downfall. From what ive also heard..east coast is the spot that gets pounded the most.
Yea modding a car there might be risky but its always good to have a backup plan if sh-t does go haywire..Im sure everyone down there does.
Houses are so affordable, and jobs are everywhere.
And u-turns are everywhere! lol at first it was a minus but after a couple days it was real convenient.
Its also a real pet friendly place..I saw so many vets and pet stores.
After living the four seasons life since birth Im tired of it..and FL is about the best place Ive been to since Hawaii (in the states that is). I was real happy there..its a happy place. If my cars were down there..I really wouldnt have left last night.
But thats the thing..you live in FL all your life you want to leave and go maybe up north or something, you live up north and you want to go down south lol.
Id take hot weather over snow any day...

LoL yah you guys have it so bad. LMAO!
I can tell you guys havent lived in a really really snow ridden area, it blows so much. Not only is it cold, miserable, and dangerous from october till april, but since its nasty EVERY day; when its snowing like a bit.ch we still HAVE to do all the daily things you have to do on any regular day.
Imagine if your work told you that they would fire you if you didnt show up for work in a hurricane. wink1.gif
Anyways we just got back to chilly ass NY, we were in Holiday which is just north of Tampa, we tried to collect as much feedback on the area from the locals who have lived there for a long time and this is what we got of the tampa area
-Hurricanes dont hit tampa as often or as hard as the miami area, not to mention you have plenty of time to evacuate.
-Florida isnt the top retiree state in the country, its like the 5th most state, and Tampa isnt even on the top 5 of florida
-The geckos and other reptiles do a good job keeping the bugs down, we were there for a week and we left the door and screen open all day and all night while we were home, didnt have a single bug. I probably saw 5-10 bugs the whole time we were in florida
-The summers are harsh if you dont like hot humid weather, but me and selina love hot weather-during the summer we welcome 90-100+ degree days
-There was a rumor of one gator in our area, but we never saw it.
-Housing was pretty cheap around holiday, we saw plenty of nice houses for less than 90grand, thats how much selinas dads house cost em.
-We loved how much there was to do and how you could do it all year round, including racing, and not needing a winter rat
-No inspection and no front license plate is awesome
-navigating cities is easier than cities of comparable size in NY/NJ
i guess thats all i can think of right now lol.

yea... experiencing both living in miami (10 years) and tampa (3 years). West coast is alot calmer... but miami is amazing. If u want to see cars go to south beach. You'll see everything alex mentioned in a one block radius. I've been in florida for 13 years and havent been hit by a strong hurricane once. Andrew was a different story (I moved to miami after andrew). Miami residents tell their history pre-andrew and post-andrew. Its almost an entirely new city after andrew.
Glad you enjoyed your stay down here... and i hope cottonmouth does too.

I have been here my entire 27 year life and the thing is, you always hate were you are from after a while. My mom was a travel agent and I got to travel all over the world, have been to every state in the US and yet the only other places I can say I would really want to live are outside the US for sure. You do eventually get used to all the things that can kill you here except the tourists...If you can't read a map propperly, please don't come here because when I'm doing 75 on the interstate I can be dealing with you doing 35 looking for certain street just to goto Disney or the beach. That and the streets ALL have 3 different names. We have one street that in four miles is labled 441, O.B.T., 17/92, Orange Blossom Trail and 436 and it has only one of those names on any given street sign.
