Can anyone recommend a clear coat that is better then Shriners's? or at least of compairable quality that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for a sawed off little 1/2 bottle? I need a good glossy finish, I've tried alot of other clear coats, but shriners is by far the best i've ever seen.

after alot of experimentation with different brands. I'd have to say that duplicolor clear is the next best thing.

its what ive been using all along. the quality of paint really isnt a big deal when compared with the quality of the prep work. prep work is always the most important.

no trust me, it is. "Metalic Spec" paint will not even hold the shinyness of a sanded 800 grit workpiece. The clearcoat has to put the shine back on it. I tried Rustoleum, Krylon, Plasti-Kote, Dupont and a couple of others.
Duplicolor is the best.

you'd be seriously impressed with shriners paint though... you can get it at walmart. Next time you want something super shiney, buy shriner's clear and shake it like a b****.
