that blows... classical sattelite connection is pretty crappy and rather slow...

basically, you are dialing in to the service provider using your phone line, then they receive your info and send you whatever packet you requested via sattelite.. so downstream is kinda ok, but upload rate is horrible.

Satelite internet sucks. Marla's dad used to have it.

It's decently fast for downloads, but uploads are like 56K over the phone line.

There is a bunch of lag too because of the way it works. You request the website over the 56K, then it goes to the request center, then it gets beamed to the satelite 26,000 miles above the earth, then it gets sent to you.

Oh, say goodbye to XBL mang.

BTW, PM me the address, I bet there's more available there.

No, DSL is over regular phone lines.

You should find out if you can "goodwill" comcast to get it done for you. Since you've been a customer forever.

Really, shouldn't be too much of a pain. Yeah yeah yeah, mountain, rocks, ect.

If you will have phone line there, there should be DSL or something via sam line as your phone.

My family up in the middle of nowhere, Maine had satellite internet and TV because they couldn't get anything else. They had a phone line, but there were no DSL providers up there. The internet was so crappy because I would constantly get kicked off from the satellite losing the signal... just like the TV would scatter when that satellite lost the signal. I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune.

sometimes when you do not have a choice....

I know Earthlink used to have a deal with the Dish network. You could get a new dish package and they bundled earthlink's Satellite service in with it.

Pat, why is Cable internet gay? I have had both DSL and cable.. cable is faster.
