You now have the ability to insert a Google Map into your post!

I've added some new bbcode that allows you to add a Google Map with custom pop-up bubble to your posts, and it should be very easy for you to do.

To use this feature:
Go to http://maps.google.com and find the area you would like to be displayed in your map. Drag the map around and zoom until you get the location you want. Now double-click the center of your location to set it.

Then click 'Link to this page' at the top right of your map. The URL in your browser's address bar changes to the URL of your map.

Copy the entire URL you see (right-click -> copy).

Now when you post, insert the following bbcode:
CODE
[map=URL]The text you want in the bubble.[/map]

The "URL" in the above example is the full URL you got from maps.google.com of your map following the directions above.

Now just enter whatever text you want your pop-up bubble to show between the tags (your cursor should already be there).

All done! Just post it, and voila!

Here is one of where I live (click the red pointer for the bubble):
style="width:500px; height: 300px;">

.

Hi!!

Go ahead, test it out smile.gif

No, it happened to me too. I closed my browser and restarted it, no problem now.

Weird...can you duplicate the problem? Also, what browser are you using?

I tested in FireFox and IE, and I can't seem to get it to have that problem - seems to be working fine for me. dunno.gif

Another test
style="width:500px; height: 300px;">

Hopefully I can go here this spring!

I'll admit. I had a chub the entire 17mile length of this incredibly twisty run! =)

honestly, I don't like this option, cause it takes forever to load the map, and I should reload it to see it.

It does take a little longer in this thread, since it's downloading the data for 3 maps simultaineously.

When it's just one map, it's pretty quick though. I thought it would be a cool way to post meets, shows, and that sort of thing.

Maybe there could be a rule where only the creator of the thread is allowed to add a map, and no more than 2 maps per page of the thread dunno.gif

is it possible to post link to a map?

I think it's not necesary to have a rule of numbers of maps per thread. but people shouldn't post unnecesary maps in future.

You could just post the link that you get from Google after you set your location, but it wouldn't show a clickable pop-up bubble and pin like this does.
