just remember when it comes to gas prices... most places have laws on the books where they cannot charge less than what they buy it for. NJ for example.. You HAVE to make a profit on every gallon sold.. even if only 1/10 of a cent

I've talked to a few Gas Station owners that I know personally, and they gripe about gas prices more than anyone. Places like BP have a contract with one distributor, where as Exxon/Mobil have a contract with someone else, which makes it hard to compete with nearby stations when they get gas for different costs themselves. They have to keep prices low to compete while trying their best to maintain a profit. They claim to make little to nothing on gas, and rely heavily on their in-store or convenience store sales more so than gas sales.

Because some states have MUCH higher prices than others (over $2/gallon in FL, CA, and NY while $1.62 in TN) I'm thinking it's more of a problem with State and Local governments as opposed to Federal.

 

it really hurts when i fill up my tank and it's over $20. unfortunately, i think gas prices are one of those things where when they go up, they stay there and we get used to it. it's that inflation thing...

The only reason I metion keeping a republican in the white house, is because to get the rest of the list accomplished, we'd need one. All the Dems running are "environmentally friendly"...which is fine, unless you want lower gas prices.

 

I agree. Keeping Bush in the white house is important in my opinion, because if we get a democrat, I think they would just pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan and leave everything unfinished, and if we keep Bush in, he could at least finish it and complete the mission. We've gotten through the worst part already.

Worst thing we could do besides NEVER go into Iraq and Afganistan is to pull out unfinished.
