1 Dead, 2 Injured in Colorado High School Shootin
http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/12...l-near-denver/
Looks like the student went into the school with a shotgun, looking for a teacher, and shot at least one person before killing themselves.
Didn't Colorado crack down on shootings last year? After the Aurora shooting?

There is no way to 'crack down on shootings' because you can't prevent crazy. You can increase school security to a point that school shootings are impossible, but a) you wouldn't want to pay for it and b) they could just wait until the people were entering/leaving school and go shooting then. You can increase mental health screening to the point everyone with a problem is found and treated, but the level of intrusiveness in your personal life would be WAY more than you'd be willing to tolerate. You can make gun laws that prevent law-abiding people from having guns when they need them but don't stop criminals, and that is the popular thing to do with leftist/statist politicians.
In places where guns are hard to get, they have knife and even hammer attacks. The weapon isn't the problem, the insane people, they are the problem. People go crazy sometimes. If you are REALLY worried about it, become friends with your neighbors and their children, and do something when they start to show warning signs of mental illness.
