it would be a nice decision, but as always i have to agree with redz. although they're pretty nice, they are by far not as "easy" as rd tiburons. try taking apart the dashboard in a new tiburon. better yet, if the airbags deploy you either scrap the car or have to have a brand new complete $300 dashboard put in.
they are slow and heavy. and the design looks like a toyota. the ride is the SAME exact thing as an rd tiburon except without the sexy curves and the V6 being heavier.
$11k is way too much for an 03. try finding an rd, they're all over, they should be in your local newspaper but here in d.c. it's way easier to find good used commuter based cars that haven't really been used all too much. in s.c. you might have to drive a bit but it's all worth the trouble.

hey thanks man. just one thing, whats the deal with being slow and heavy? not saying i want it that way (why the heck would i? duh) but noob here needs things explained sometimes. lol. when i find one i like i dont wanna do a whole lot of stuff to it, just basic stuff like upgrading sound, maybe a lil interior lighting, but nothing drastic like painting inside like dtns or Kustomized's. Those are nice cars, love em, but im not a flashy person, i prefer mainly simple, clean looking, and to the point. heh. anyhow, was just wondering.........

i like many members here have driven a few new tiburons. overall it's a better safer car, but it's a complicated car meaning it's a little more difficult to do easy things. they've increased the weight up i think 3,200 pounds on the V6 compared to our 2,500 pound rd's.
you know what though, it just depends on your preference. i like how the new tiburons look over the RD2 tiburons and the options, quality, safety, and reliability is probably more worth your money than any old tiburon, but there are just a few things i can't stand on the new tiburon like the parking brake being on the drivers side and your fingers knocking into the shifter surround, or the RPM gauge being on the right side WTF...
i got bored of the new tiburon design quickly. that's just me. but i do like it more than rd2 (sorry guys). i guess it's a little cleaner. 2007 tiburons are ugly but when lowered and black they can look nice.
what i'm trying to say is why pay $10,000 more for a little upgrade when you can just buy a $3,000 rd.

HKC summed it up nicely there. Ive been seing them localy for 3-6k alot, im not familiar with mainland prices tho so i dont have an opinion there. If it were me id get a cheap RD and save the cash for the next generation.
then what am i saying i just dumped my saved cash on an eclipse :s

^ grow up..
stock GK,
before you buy it have them.pull the plastic cover on the engine and make sure Evey thing is clean on it. the cover look nice and shine but what are they really hideing...when was the last time they changed the spark plugs and wire? on the Gk you got to pull the intake manifold to do that.. what will that cost in labor charges. don't be taken in by the spec sheet and the BS shine. its OK to ask them questions. i would have them pull the plugs and check them for oil and also check the anti-freeze as well if it not green then it has been abused if there is any signs of red water/rust water stains any where this is very bad, also ask them to pull up the carpet on either side of the car to check for water damage..

wow, i've never thought about looking around the car that much when shopping for a car. water damage is a big no no inside, usually means salvage.
alli, the truth is you're buying a car, and its your money, and all the things Mad_John just said is helpful. You can even have the car towed to a mechanic to have it fully inspected. If they refuse, dont even bother.

i would personally go for a GK.. the only reason i bought my RD2 was because it was only 2 years old when i bought it and i couldn't afford a GK. the NEWEST Rd series that you could buy is 6 years old. Why buy a 6 year old car when you could buy a 2 or 3 year old car that will most likely last longer. yeah it will be more money, somewhere around 10-12,000 and you could get an '01 for about half that price. But the GK will be newer, may still have a warranty on it, probably less miles, better condition, etc.
^^ I disagree, in the case of modifying cars..
Take my car for example, I bought it for $800, yeah, its a 97, 10 years old, but is it REALLY 10 years old? ..
01 engine/trans, and the only thing stock (or old) about the motor is the internals, it has a brand new intake and exhaust system (which is stainless steel and would outlast the exhaust system on a brand new '07 car), the struts, springs, axles, brakes, rotors, pads, are all brand new, less than 20k miles on them (making them NEWER than an 03 GK with 30k miles).....etc etc etc
All of the stuff I just mentioned basically make my car "newer" than an 03, beacuse all that stuff has less than the 30k miles that your GK would have, so it will last longer, and since its not stock, it will perform better too.
The only thing still "old" about my car would be the frame, the internals of the motor, belts, and the interior.
The same thing goes with a LOT of members here.
The only advantage with buying a newer car is that the bluebook is higher, my car bluebooks for less than half what it's really worth.
