Hey guys. So I'd love to be able to turbo my car, but i know I'm never going to be able to justify that kind of cash investment, so after reading up a lot on it lately I'm considering saving up and installing nitrous instead. It looks like by going with the Nitrous Express kit #20923, a 190lph fuel pump and a new set of spark plugs I could set it up for somewhere between $300 and $600, depending on e-bay prices.
My question is this: How long does a bottle of nitrous last? Obviously it varies depending on the size bottle and how much it is used, but if you were using a 10lb bottle about how much 'boost time' would that buy you at, say, a 50 shot? I'd just like to know if I go this route if I'd be emptying the bottle every 5 times I boosted, or every 50 times. Makes a difference.

^^ Should be something like that.
For someone who doesn't need the extra mid-range power around town, nitrous is actually pretty good idea. Also less prone to detonation cause nitrous when injected is rather cool compared to the hot air the turbo pumps out.
Most people I know end up filling the bottle every month or so, and price is about $4.50 a pound here at the moment. Keep in mind nitrous is illegal for steet use. wink1.gif So if you get pulled over and the cop sees the bottle, your pretty much screwed.

See, but is it? I can't find anything that difinitively says wether it is legal or illegal in Michigan. Searching our legislative web site [Michigan Legislature] only turns up laws about selling nitrous for inhalation purposes.
Does anyone know where a source about legality is?
BTW, I searched around some more and for a 50 shot (about what I'd like to run) a 10 second burst uses about .4lbs.

Off of LS1tech.com I found one person that said it was legal in Michigan.
I can't find any info other than that lol. I would assume a state like yours that had a law coming up banning aftermarket exhausts larger than stock would have something about nitrous though.

Well I just emailed the state police, so we'll see what they say. Tried to word the email so they wouldn't assume I'm a civic-driving-fastandthefurious kiddy.
I'll let you guys know when I find out in case anyone else in Michigan is interested.
Also keep in mind we're also a state with out emissions checks, so there's both ends of the spectrum there. wink1.gif
