I'm almost done paying my car..will be done in a couple of months and I'm not looking to have another car payment anytime soon (I'm going to use that money to work for me). Also, my Tib is still fresh looking over here as they're only 2 or 3 other RD2's so there's no reason to part with it.

I'd say I have around 130-140K miles on my car, break that into new engines and whatnot and its only got 30k on it now.

Figure if you spend a couple grand on your tib in the next/past couple years, if you need to sell it for 3 or 4000 dollars, you have that option. But eventually, it'll just be a money pit, and suck more than that away just in repairs unless you are your own mechanic like my broke ***.

I figure I'm in the neighborhood of 30K invested after the price of the car. I'm about to do another 10K at least, and I'll never get more than 15K AT THE ABSOLUTE MOST. So for me I'll have it till it burns to the ground, God willing it wont, but I'll have it till I'm an old man with plenty of other cars over the years.

Figure if your car is just a car, then sell it someday.

If its your passion and tells a story, hang on to it, money cant buy things like memories. It sucks, but thats what it boils down to.

I'd say as long as there are people low on cash (forever), then we'll have drivers for the old tibs, and some of them will go crazy on projects like this. I still see all sorts of cars in magazines from the early to mid 90's so at least for the next 5-10 years we'll have RD tuners around.

I didn't buy or mod my car to sell it, I did it to make myself happy smile.gif , I'm not dumping money in my car to increase it's value, it's just like buying food you do it because your hungry and the same thing goes for my car, I'm hungry for more power and more fun plus the look peoples faces as I blow past them in a hyundai. I love my car because it's very easy to work on and if I blow the motor I can find another for $300 with low milage, I will most likely be keeping the tib untill the fenders rot off or the junkyards run out if motors for me to blow up laugh.gif: .

if you think my Tib is old.. then you haven't seen the other two cars in my signiture line.. The fiat has 93,000 miles on it and the Lancia has only 35,000 (approximatly.. I would have to go to storage and look)My tib.. it is the newest and is just about to break 105,000 miles.

The car I traded in on the tib was an 88 Excel (first gen) and I got rid of that car at 167,000 miles.. it didn't owe me a thing. Even my Tib is pretty much maintance free in comparision to my Italian beauties..

If you think changing the timing belt every 70 to 80,000 miles is bad on the tib.. I will let you in on a secret.. doing it on my Lancia is a major pain.. not only does it need to be done every 20 to 25,000 miles (or it will snap) but being a mid-engined car, the "sail" panal that completes the look of the roofline is in the way.. so your choice is to crawl into the engine compartment (which is roomy btw) or unbolt that panal..
