Sounding different
well.. I have an "ebay special" cai... just a single bed where it goes down into the fender... I can tell you this.. when I go to WOT and let the revs go up towards redline, it screams... but in normal driving, you might hear a small bit of growl, that is it.

thanks guys...
TigerShark420, flowmaster? isn't that exchanging the entire exhaust? do you mean the flowmaster muffler piping? sounds like your friend might have other mods... was that with an intake or just the exhaust? jeez, that's awsome.
i do have some questions. forgive me, but they came up while i was brainstorming...
1) An Air Ram. How does that change the sound despite hp gains?
2) What is the difference between CAI and AI sound? If any...
3) If you put a CAI on, with a bypass valve for rain water/puddles not to get sucked in, should you still worry? or is it perfectly okay?
Now, does anybody know a good online source to purchase a good injen CAI? because i sure as hell can't find anything... i don't prefer AEM. or any other companies? i need noise! lol.
thanks!

Hey bro, ya he just replaced the muffler (not exhaust) and had a WAI.
I wouldnt recomend this setup for racing , but if your just after sound then it could probly be the cheapest way to change the sound of the car.
Like i said , his car had like no balls under 3500-4k range , but hey i guess if u only care about sounding good then thats the way to go.

I am getting a flowmaster for my car... but with a compleate cat back... mine will be unique though, Flowmaster is the only muffler company I know of that has a 180 degree muffler.. the intake and the exhaust are on the same side of the muffler.. I need this because I am going with a centre exhaust.. so the muffler can stay in the stock position and I only meed to add a 180 degree loop back, about a foot of pipe and a pair of polished tips.. and presto.. Porsche Boxster look on the exhaust...
A WAI will have a slighty more aggressive sound....becuase its closer to the driver. Go w/ an AEM CAI.....I have one and if you go full throttle above 2k (except 4th, then its 3k, and 5th is really quiet until you hit about 90mph ;-), you know how hard that is to do in our area) its awesome sounding.
If you do get a cam from Kspec, Get the 1.8L cam NOT the XD/GT cam.
This also give the intake a more aggressive sound.

wow, more peeps using flowmaster!
They sound awesome on our cars but not sure whats up with my frieds car.
I guess since he just replaced the muffler and not the whole exhuast it screwed with his backpreasure , but then again it could be the fact that he used a universal 2-chamber (musclecar) flow LOL.
I still make fun of how dead his car is at low rpms , but he always replies "atleast mine sounds better" hahah

You will definatly notice the difference in the sound.. even at idle. More growly with a cai

I LOVE how my AEM CAI sounds! The loud growling at high RPMS is soo nice!
PS- Hey Mad, you GOTTA show us pics once it's complete! Also let us know how it sounds/performs, and how it was done.

This is the muffler that I got (can't remember the brand, sorry
)
It sounds heaps different to the canons that most ppl seem to get (deeper/throatier) laugh.gif
The rest of the system is 2.5" CAT back.
