Intro
Hello, I joined rdtiburon as a pre-emptive strike. I am 75% sure I am going to buy a Tiburon in the next month or so.
The other options consist of the Scion Tc, Dodge SRT-4, Chev Cobalt. I like the Tiburon for styling, V6, warranty.. and my local Hyundai dealership has a good reputation. I have a friend that has an '04 Elantra.
Other than that I bowl, mostly since I work in a bowling center, play poker, whirly ball and spend quite a bit of time on the computer.

True, but all members are welcome here - we have a lot of members who own new tiburons here. The very last thing you want to do is send them off to 'the site we don't speak of'.
Welcome to the board, and I'm positive if you get a Tiburon you will love it! If you just want it to drive and have as a nice car, the V6 is excellent.
If you plan on doing a lot of modifcations, namely turbo, the I4 will be a better option.

Even with a few bolt-ons the RD is very comparable to the GK performance-wise
Mostly because of the weight of that thing, the GK is very heavy..
I think what Joshuwa said was very accurate, if you plan to modify your car I would get an RD (97-01), but if you just want to have a nice car to cruise around in, get a GK (03+) simply because they're newer, and are a little more well known.
Nonetheless, welcome to the site.
