I installed a turbo in my 2.0 Tib. Changed also the pistons and now getting 155-160 psi. The engine is still in the process of being broken in. Nothing in the fuel system or ECU was changed. The strategy is to get to the detonation limit of the engine by controlling the boost (after break in) via a manual boost controller. Once this point is set, I will determine if I will be contented with the power or not. If yes, the engine will be left as is. If not, the fuel management/ECU piggy back devices will be looked into.

Can somebody help me here? Has there been anyone who turboed his Tib without modifying injectors/fuel system. etc? What gain in horsepower should I expect if the engine is left as is with only the turbo added?
Would appreciate comments. Thanks everyone.

welcome to the forums

It's not very smart to just boost your car without doing anything else to be on the safe side... you could be running extremly lean right now and will blow your engine. Get your car tuned to see how it's running then upgrade injectors and the rest of the fuel system along with fuel managment.

kumusta,

are you postive about 155 - 160 psi of boost??? please verify this

anyways, squeezing/making more of power out of an engine requires more fuel...

in a FI setup... more air in, there should be more fuel in as well... it should be proportional

fuel pump and injectors should be upgraded

I highly doubt that much boost. You'd run like a 1/4 mile of like 1/4 second.

hey guys.... remember psi can measure other things besides boost. lmao.gif he'd have to have some impressive turbo to even make that amount of boost.

he HAS to be talking about a compression test. Which we've learnt previously is about 155-160 on 8:1 pistons. cool.gif
