The GK, or 2003-2006 is much heavier than the RD, but our cars sit at 2600, right on the door frame.

Now, add my 275 pound ass to it, and yes, 2900 is near, but it still moves.

LOL

i just read the thread, i thought it was funny they kept saying how it would look better without the body kit. lol. i personally dont like the wing, as has been stated, his car deserves whatever he wants to put on it really. and you can say the power band isnt great, but how many other 4 cyl cars with NO after market support making those kind of #'s for such a long period of time without blowing up? that in itself says alot.

Alright, who are the people responsible for this? raise your hands. drillsergeant.gif joke.gif i don't know what this is about but it's nice of you to come over here and try to settle things the right way.

all i have to say is i'd rather see a nice not-so-fast Hyundai than a pimped out 88' V8 Oldsmobile. The two are probably just as fast as one another, sure one is stronger but heavier and gas guzzling...etc. all cars have their drawbacks. when people argue over cars they aren't arguing over the cars themselves they're arguing over how rich vs. poor they are because we all know if we had money we'd be driving muscle cars, exotics, or highly tuned boosted versions of our cars wink1.gif

hyundai sucks is like saying, "i have more money and brains than you" and that's just silly. most of the time it's just about the passion more than the speed or money for instance i have a passion for Hyundai World Rallying. Those cars are like normal cars on sterroids and muscle cars certainly cannot and would not in no chance in hell be able to compete against $300,000 world rally cars.

that is my passion, and i like to have a piece of it everyday. for other people the year 1968 and American muscle is their passion.

it's also a regional thing. in europe, they respect all cars and makes. there is no "my car is better than yours". it's more like when you come out of the airport it's like, "shit, we have to tie this last luggage to the roof"

this will be watched closely to prevent anything from going up.

Welcome to our site and please forgive some of our more hot-headed memebers. smile.gif. You probly won't find alot on this site that appeals to you, but I've found some interesting threads already on your site. I'll probly stick around, hopefully my rice won't offend too many people.

Check out our extensive DIY section though. Alot of it is stuff that can be applied to any car.

well, I dont mind the wing or like it. quick question when going high speed, wouldnt it be good to have downforce on the vehicles ass end be it front wheel drive or not, just so it has a little more of the wheel on it to brake better? So i would assume in mountain racing, your going to get going pretty quick thne have to slow down? or no? ive nver seen mountain racing b4, sounds fun tho. O and theres a guy with a camaro that lives in my development when a Type Rice aluminum wing on it... just to say something in reference to wings nana.gif

We have plenty of downforce on the front end. the shape of the car and the weight of the engine/drivetrain/steering does that, the rest of the weight sits mid car, there's nothing in the back to keep the ass end on the ground which is where the majority of our problems at high speeds come from.

Some downforce tuned to the car yes... But large quantities of downforce on the rear of a fwd car makes it harder for the front wheels to hold the road and decreases cornering speed... Not to mention at least as far as I know mountain racing, the speeds aren't going to be really high enough to generate downforce thats stabilizing...

Although I do have to ask now... are we talking pike's peak syle mountain racing or street/roadcourse mountain racing?? Because the styles are completely different as are the car setups/requirements

Both.

The mountains in Korea are frigging INSANE. I miss living there, it was so much fun.

I believe Mad John put up some pics of the places they race over there.

mountain racing is going DOWN a mountain as fast as possible. there's some wild videos floating around about it. pretty insane stuff. they call them touge comps or something like that.
