k, i'm not running any fancy neon setup in my car, just two under the dash in the front where you feet go and two undereath the backs of the front seats where the people in the back put their feet. i was just wondering, i've already got the rears wired up via a wire tap to my cigarette lighter and wanted to see if u guys think i could wire up the fronts on the cigarette lighter as well and not be drawing too much power on that circuit. both sets will be set on different switches (1 switch for the fronts and 1 switch for the backs). think this would work?

You should be fine. I have 6 lights, but they are LED. 2 under the dash, 2 under the front of the seat and 2 under the back of the seat. All those are wired into the cigarette lighter with no problems. If you are worried you can always add a in-line fuse.

i was actually more worried about wiring it all up and then finding that i'm blowing the fuse up front. but, that doesn't seem to be an issue, so woohoo!

even neon tubes have less than 1 amp current draw. if you wire it up and the front fuse blows, its becuase you havee a short somwhere. wink1.gif

just dont go and try to run 2 minifridges off the cig. lighter and you will be okay. fing02.gif laugh.gif

you can always use fuse it up from the interior fuses, plenty of empty ones put a wire on the one prong of the fuse and put it on in there and you have fused power source without using the cig lighter, use the fuse for gauges and the cig lighter for radar dect

10" neons tubes are not that big... it'll fit! well, to put it under the dash...

i hanged mine using zip ties onto the steering wheel brace or wire looms... this way the neon tube itself is hidden from top view and you only see the light on the floor, pedals, beer bottles, shoes at the bottom.... it looks a lot cleaner.

btw, i have diamond plate floor mats, that intensifies the effect. cool.gif

hmmm....didn't think about zip ties.....is it a solid grip, or does the light swing around? cuz with my car, i'm very anal about what i do to it, and i wanna make sure that if i zip tie it up, that it's not gonna be swinging around and looking all ghetto when i'm driving around. the driver side shouldn't be too hard like that, but what about the passenger side? there's a lot of stuff down there, think there's a place to put them there? well, while i'm waiting for a reply, i'm gonna run out and take another look at my car!
