Who here has owned a car that allowed you to take the key out of the ignition while it was running? I cant do it with my tib but some friends have older cars from the early 90s that let them do it.

I had an 85 Buick that would do that. No key needed to start it or anything. When you're 17 and your buddies figure out a key isn't needed to start/drive your car, it sucks.

My Impulse has a turbo timer on it. When I first got the car, I though there was something wrong with the ignition because I'd turn the key off and the car would keep running It took me a few minutes to figure it out...... I felt like an idiot. (it IS my first turbo car)

Old cars do that because the key and cylinder are worn to sh*t. Not because they were designed that way.
