hey guys i went to my local apholstery shop and asked how much it would be to do my interior suede, the guy said he couldnt all he does is seats and stuff like that but said he could get it for me for $22 a yard, is that a good price and also since he cant do it. im thinking about doing it myself. can someone give me instuctions on the easiest way to accomplish this task of mine. i kinda know how just want to know how to get it to stick.

 

how many yards do you think it would take? if you're doin both front and rear seats i would think you would need about 10-15 yards (just a guess...initially i was thinking close to 20-25). $220-$300. sounds rather pricey.

and when suede gets wet, it gets VERY messed up. you ever see the Seinfeld episode when Jerry buys a suede coat and it gets damaged in the rain? you better pray that it doesn't get wet...

 

no im just doing the panals,pillars and roof. and trunk area. i have a custom enclosure box im building for where the back seats vent. if youve seen the 1st gen veilside tibby on www.importfan.com something like that expect like a jet black color.

Summer's interior (The 25,000 tib on ebay recently) has a full suede interior. Maybe you can get in touch with her and see how it was done.

 

If you don't have much experience applying leather,vinyl,etc, you're much better off letting a pro handle it. Suede is waaaay too expensive to be fuking it up.

 

alcantara... it is a suede like material that Audi likes to play with. Very sturdy, holds up well in sunlight which real suede does not... but I am unsure on the price.

Suede, as well as leather, can get messed up if it gets wet. The trick with suede is treating it, and continuing to treat it with a waterproofer/conditioner. I've had suede shoes last me as long as 4 years with the actual appearance of the suede still looking great.....the overall condition of the shoe was just shot.
