Storing an external HD in the glove box
I'm planning on picking up a new cd player that has a rear mounted usb port in it. I was thinking about getting an external hard drive and making a back up of all my music at home (about 20 gigs worth), mounting it in the glove box, and routing the usb cable to behind the deck to control all the music on the HD.
The question I have is will I have to do anything unique to the HD in the glovebox so that it doesnt break? Will I have to create some kind of cradle for it and do I have to worry about extreme heat or cold (summer/winter). What about it getting ruined if I hit any bumps or potholes?

You should be fine as long as its a travel style external drive. I would still try and build a cradle for it though so its not just bouncing all around inside the the glovebox.

good suggestion, specially if you are just putting music on it, you wont need something huge like 500GB. SSDs are pretty expensive, but since you only would need a small one for as much music as you could download, it wouldn't be THAT bad.

Clarion makes a nice cigarette style peice I used to use. Just removed the cig lighter and the peice bolted in, in the 98 with the little push cover was very nice.
