Default stereo prblem

OK I went and did it this time.... sad.gif .....I have an x-plod deck and it was making a "hiss" sound. then all of a sudden all my sound went off. I removed everything and took a look at it it seems the red wire with the white stripe was a lil loose and exposed, this is the wire off the factory radio harness it was also hookeed with a thick blue wire, which form the other end was attached to some lil black rubber looking box, when I reaceh for a ground the lil red w/ white stripe wire hit some metal and it saparked and my radio lost all power, and now the face stayed down, and I get no power at all. what do uou think happened and what can I do, i tried rewiring the wires that exposed but nothing happened, any one know what might have happened or how I can perhaps fix this? please answer when you can I need my jamz back on its killling me!

ok I am back, it seems as if the fuse is ok. It doesn't appear to be "blown". I don't know what else it could be? Any other suggestions? I would like to have my radio booming by tonight....anyone please get back!

p.s. sorry about the spelling, it was pretty late and I had a horrible long day, and I just wanted to get this in....thanks!

You might have blown relay under the hood. But just to make sure go ahead and change the fuse in the radio even if they don't look blown sometimes they are. Also check the fuse in the fuse box. If they are all new and the relay isn't blown you might have blown the head unit.

ok thanks for the info.....I am gonna try the fuse and relay things right now, but if for some chance it doesn't work, if the head unit is blown.....does that mean I pretty much need a new deck or what?

Yeah if you just got it, it should be under warrenty. Not unless there is something else wrong with but I not sure what that might be.

Ok hold the train (sorry just wanted to say that). First do the easy trouble shooting you already checked the fuse on the back of the radio and it was good correct? did you check the fuse underneath the hood for the audio? If this fuse is also good take your stock head unit and plug it in if it works you have fried your Sony. It is almost next to impossible to fry a relay especially one that has to with a radio you have a better chance of sleeping with Tyra Banks! Also smell your radio it will have a burnt smell to it (maybe) if you did enough damage. If you plug in your stock unit and it works the last thing to try before you deem the Sony dead when you plug it back in you should hear a mototr running inside this is what operates the cd player if this does not work the unit is shot and needs to be fixed or replaced last thing to do if your Sony has it some have a reset button and it might need to be reset because of the power spike find the button and push it if this does not work again the unit is fried.
