from what I can recall.. the law is vague when it comes to replacing airbags that have gone off. I think as long as I remove all the airbag stickers from the car (and the embossed "SRS Airbag from the dash) I am good to go. I will have to look it up though.

Just did some searching.. only a handful of states require than a deployed airbag be replaced with a new one. And none of those states are on the east coast. So, as long as I remove all the SRS and Airbag stickers and such, I am in the clear to use this wheel. There is no way for anybody to find out if the bags had been previously deployed or not.

Ehh, I belive it's a federal law though mang.

As for Chemical Burns, I thought they were just inflated with nitrogen?

Federal law leaves it up the states. I checked. Federal law only applies when you get a shop to try and remove it.. they have to write the NHTSA for approval to install a switch to temporarily disable the airbags.. but in the case of replacing them after an accident, that is state's preference.

They may be inflated with nitrogen, though I think it may be a sodium dirivative... the powder on the bag itself can be a little caustic.. all I can tell you, I had some nasty burns on my right hand after that accident.

looks really nice mad.

why did you decide on the red stitching? with your interior color, i would think plain white would look better. the red might look out of place.

That steering wheel looks hot! I've been thinking about getting one also, the top of my steering wheel is starting to split, it looks ugly and it annoys me. I'll have to check into my state's laws regarding airbags.

Are you painting your car dark grey/gunmetal? I've been looking around and every tib I've seen in gunmetal looks awesome. I'm thinking either gunmetal or glossy black when I eventually paint my car.
