the BIGGEST thing you can do to fix the huge amount of slop all the shifters have is replace shifter bushings..

that makes a night and day difference to even the stock shifter.

the nice thing about the rside is the adjustability. even though most people keep it as low as possible, some leave it higher.

I agree, the Rside is a bit sloppy, particularly in 5th gear... Need to find a way to get that tighter. The shifter bushings you refer to, are those like the ones flyryde sells that go in the engine bay, or ones that go inside the cabin instead?
Still working on getting mine a lot shorter, but should have that fixed pretty soon...

the ones that KJB sells.. the ones flyryde sells are overpriced and not as nice as the ones KJB sells..

the base bushings will help a bit, but not anywhere close to as much as the cable bushings

With the new base bushings and cable bushings I have no slop anymore. Really tight and it feels great. fing02.gif

"the best bet for people wanting smoother/tighter shifts, would be to get elantra shifter base and short shifter and swap it into the tib."

What year elantra?

Yeah those bushings ^^^
I just bought the cable bushings last night, but i haven't seemed to have problems with the base moving, so I didn't get those.

I think the majority of people with a 5-speed here have short shifters already. The Elantra idea would be great but factor in the cost of a new one plus the base. Im not sure its worth it for the upgrade. Just like we were talking about in the strut bar thread. It would be cool to see it done though.
