I'm considering getting a subwoofer, I want it to be loud, good quality sound, but not drown out my other speakers.
I have a Sony Active Black Panel and the stock speakers are replaced by JBLs, 6.5" 130w and 6x9 180w.
I don't want to spend too much either. I'm wondering which brand would be best, whether to get a Sony sub to match the head unit, or JBL's to match the other speakers, or just have something different.
I have seen this offers and wonder if its worth going for -
Sony Xplod 12", with box and Sony Amp for £150

Sony Xplod is a great brand. I have heard great things about it. I myself, have all Kenwood. I have 2, 12''s and they do not drown out the rest of the speakers. I have only stock door speakers and 2 6.5'' in the back deck. Just dont get Jensen!!!!!!

Infinity Perfect 12.1 Sub in a ported box. Check out www.ejdeaudio.com They have some really good prices on stuff and my friend has ordered from them before, so they're legit. I wuold go with a bigger setup though. Like a 15" Solo-Baric DVC.
A friend of mine has 2 Infinity perfect 12's in his car and they're absolutely insane. They're power hungry though. I've also heard the Kicker L7's and they're pretty nuts too. eek.gif
I have all Kenwood (excelon) as well, but haven't heard that Xplod stuff is that great. Unless that amp also has a mobileES tag on it. I don't know why they stopped making mobileES, it rocked! The Perfects are good but you need more power because they use aluminum cones and are harder to drive. I don't think you can go wrong with a Rockford Fosgate- loud, punchy sound is their trademark.

I have a single 12" Diamond Sub (500 watts I think) and a 600 watt Kenwood amp bridged and it sounds nice. But I'm thinking of getting dual 12's (Sony's ofcourse) but I did have a set of sub's that BLEW my mind away. That was the ONLY system that has ever gotten stolen from me
(. They were Rockford's Punch Pro Power series. I think like 1200 watts each of something crazy. and I had a Punch 200 on them...let me tell you..I had to reattach my spoiler a few times..**** hit HARD! They had a nice chrome basket..one of the first to have this..i think...this was about 4-5 years ago. i got that for SUPER cheap..like 25.00 each of something..and i custom made my own back to spec's...Very nice Hatch setup. It was in an rolleyes.gif 1987 Escort GT White with tint. ..subs..hehe..Punch/Diamond/Kicker/Sony..my picks.
