QUOTE (canadianshark74)
I don't feel like installing the tweeters in the stock holes on the dash.

Of course.. that is the hard part.. getting up into the dash to mount and wire those things.

Just keep in mind, last year i picked up some infinity components hoping to upgrade my sound, unfortunately, i didn't factor in the power needed to make them work. my deck couldn't provide enough power to make them sing, and with without a separate amp, my stock speakers sounded much better.

so my advice, make sure you have enough watts going to whatever speakers you buy, or you'll have a nice set of speakers sitting in a box in the house like me until you can get an amp for them.

I was looking at a friend's car the other day.. what do you guys think of MB Quart? As for the head unit not being able to supply enough power.. my CD is OLD.. older than some people on HP.com... well, maybe not that old.. but it is closing in on seven or eight years now.

in my opionion - DONT BUY 6x9's they are a total waste of money - just spend the money on a awsome set of front components and place the tweeter close-ish to the woofer as the helps with sound imaging, i just got some JL VR600-CS and they are simply aswsome and are so much nicer than my old JBL coaxial speakers, but you would need a good 50+RMS (not watts max) to push a good set of components

back to the first bit dont get 6x9 they are just used for high volume and lack real quality and are a waste of money (wish someone told me this before i got mine :x )

as for subwoofer i hmmmed and haaard for ages then choose a soundstream rubicon 2 12" (600 RMS!!!!) and its a beast and much nicer than a JL W3v2 12" (i tried mine friends in my car) but u need a good amp to push it well

Default Toronto Meet Sunday Oct 19th

Thanks for the input, But I am definately not putting a Sub in my car, I don't need huge bass, and I don't need 100lbs of gear in my trunk. I am only looking for some good sound, my stockers are not the best sounding. I am leaning toward the Rockfords, they seem to have a little more punch. But I will see what kind of deal I can get.

The fronts are an odd size. When shopping for speakers look for an oversized 6.5 or a 6.75

I have a Sony 6.75, and it was still a little small. I too plan on upgrading to the Infinity door speakers though.

yeah my fronts did not fit at all and its hard to find a direct replacement, just get a thin piece of wood and make a small template that will fit the speaker and the stock fittings - only takes an hour max and then size is not a big problem

I managed to get Rockfords at a really good price. I don't know when I will get a chance to install them though. It is almost winter time up here. I might have to wait till the spring to install all my new toys.
