so.. exactly how hard is it to get at the rear speakers anyway?

not hard at all. just pry the grill off from the top and pull it off carefully.

So what size fits for us? Front and back?

Rockford Fosgates eh? I might think about it. How much they run? I've got a nice Kenwood 600 watt Amp on my JL's so I wanted to stick with Kenwood, but I can change.

That is what I am hearing, Infinity's have really great sound, and the Rockfords can really pound the bass. hmmm, tuff decision.

i havent done anything sound wise to my tib yet except for head unit, mainly because im poor, so i dont exactly know. got to www.crutchfield.com, enter the car info. under "what fits", and it will give u sizes and speakers that fit. i know the backs r 6x9, im pretty sure the tweeters up front r 1", and im pretty sure that that the midbass speakers in the door are 6.75".

Default Wiring to the fuse box...

thanks for all your input, I have been out of the car audio scene for many, many years now, so everything is kinda new to me. Quick question, what the hell are "compontent" speakers? All I can see it that they are a hell of a lot more expensive.

oh, Solo-Baric, what model of rockfords do you have?, there are 2 different price ranges.

component speakers come as a midbass speaker and a tweeter seperately and have an external crossover. the other option is a coaxial speaker, which includes the midbass speaker and tweeter(s) all in the same speaker. the latter usually has an internal crossover which i think(someone correct me if im wrong) is not as effective at seperating the frequencies. the component set will almost always sound better but u usually need to mount the tweeters somewhere, which involves a harder install.

Well, that is why I asked. I do not know about other years.. but my 99 had a pair of unused speaker openings up on the dash top. Seems that would be the PERFECT spot for tweeters.

Thats what I thought "componet" speakers were. I had just never heard that term before. I am just used to them called 2 way or 3 way. and seperate Tweeter. I think I might go with a set of 3 ways. seperate mid and tweets in the same speaker. I don't feel like installing the tweeters in the stock holes on the dash.
