Default Question about race seats and harnesses in a street car

Are having race seats and 5 point harnesses considered rice on a daily driven street car? I know they form a purpose and they aid in safety on track cars, but is putting something meant for track cars on a daily driver, considered rice?

Don't know about rice but you probably should be driving something bad-a$$ enough to

back them up or people may be pointing and giggling a bit.

They are also not very comfortable if you plan on being in them for a while.

racing harnesses are not comfortable at all, as safety would have it they do not give at all so you stay firmly planted, however if you move around even a tiny bit while driving then a harness isnt for you at all. Seats on the other hand can be more comfortable than the stockers and shouldnt net you too much laughter.

if you value safety more than looks here is my opinion.

if you plan on getting a aftermarket steering wheel they i would suggest it but don't go cheap on them.

think about it for a second... this is the only place your body comes in contact with your car, do it right or don't do it at all.

I think i am one of the few people here with a harness bar, and 4 point harness on both passenger and driver, For daily driving there fine, as I weat them lose, but not lose enough to kill me if i get in a accident, Bascially at the track, you would sit straight up in you seat and winch them b*tchs down, but for daily driving i wear them lose, so i can move and check my blind spots, there still restricing, and take a bit to get use to... Yet, also remember that there not "Street Legal" Unless you run Scroth Harness's yet, there a pretty penny, but i like them! They are very comfortable, over longer trips I have no issues, I think most of the comfort will come from a setup that is properly installed, I see tons of people with harness installed incorrectly, like the ever so popular, bolting to the harness to the floor board. If you have a questions, feel free to ask me, I will be getting a Harness kit going soon, I am making on for Atomic as we speak, and a few other members have asked for a my harness bar as well.

PM me if you like, I will be more than happy to send you pictures of my install, and harness bar.

Did you know that the rules for for at least dirt track racing require all 5 point belts to be within 2 years old due to the material used to make them actually weakens after time especially if they sit in the sun? We have to buy them ever two years for our race car before we can race. Of course I don't know how weak they actually get over time but thought I would point that out.
