Alright, I know the basics of stereo wiring and I have done it a ton of times. But Im kinda confused right now. The subs I want are Audiobahn Alum10Ns. They are 800 watts RMS a piece and they are 6 ohms each. I know that means I should have 3 wired in a series but I need to know what kind of amp to use. How many channels, how big of output, how to wire. Thanks guys

ive always just been a fan of buying a mono channel sub amp, and then wiring the subs in parallel to it. parallel would make the total load on the amp be 3 ohms, so make sure the amp is stable down past that(most sub amps are stable to atleast 2 ohms).

Ok so how big of an amp would I need for these to perform to near full potential? And so if the load is 3 ohms then a 2 ohm amp would be fine?

800 watts rms is a bunch. also, are you sure they are 6 ohms a peice? thats a very odd number.

amps dont really have 3 ohm ratings, but you would ideally want one that pushes 1600watts rms x 1 @ 3 ohms.

I think you could get that down to 1 Ohm if wired correctly. But then you would have to get a 1 Ohm amp pushing alot of Watts. It would be pretty loud, though. Less resistance means more power. But thats only if you went with 3 subwoofers. Even with 2 subs, you would need either 1.5 Ohms or 6 Ohms. I would go with 2 subs and a 2 channel 2 Ohm stable amp. Each sub would be wired in parallel for 3 Ohms each.

Get 2 of these, on each sub wire the coils in parrallel(sp?), this will bring the total load of each down to 3ohms, then wire each sub in parrallel with each other (will bring total of both subs down to 1.5ohms) on a ginormous Mono amplifier that is 1 ohm stable. Most amps are not 1ohm stable but there are some good ones that are. I'd look for an amp around 2000watts at 1ohm.

ah yes, those subs are DVC.

so yeah, if you are getting 3, you can get it down to 1 ohm exactly.

wire both positives on each sub in series, and parallel with the other subs. send that to the positive on your amp.

do the same with the negatives. that will get you 1 ohm exactly.

and then, ideally...you would want an amp the pushes 2400 watts rms at 1 ohm. but something like that would end up costing atleast one thousand dollars.

may want to re-consider just how much bass you really need. 3 800w rms subs is beyond rediculous.

Check out elementaldesigns.com. They have a NINe.1 amp that pushes 1200 watts at 12V 1ohm. They are also stackable! two of these amps put out 2400 watts at 12v, more at 14.4v. And the sweetest thing is they are only 350 a peice with a 3 year warranty.

here is a link to there site and the NINe.1
