A question about this amp....

Are you limited to only those models or are you allowed to have any 2 subs and 1 amp? Personally I don't trust Pioneer subs and Amps. They don't hit very hard and distort easily if turned up too loud.

I get exactly what I posted sad.gif I too am not crazy about Pioneer and Kenwood. But that's all they found equivalent to what I had. Kinda sucks. But at least I'm gonna have some bass back. smile.gif

The newer stuff is a lot better than their old stuff. I have a couple of nickel coated 10" Pioneer subs, and they DO hit hard, and don't distort, at least not at the power levels I'm running them at. I hit 140dB with a pair of those running in very small sealed enclosures with about 90W RMS apiece driving them.
Pioneer also is making some very sweet class A amplifiers, and some of their new class D amps hit VERY hard and very clean (for class D amplifiers)
I'm not the bigest fan of Pioneer bass stuff, either. I'm running Alpine V12 amplifiers, to the Pioneer subs. I have a Pioneer head unit, and CD changer, but that's because I like the sound quality that it provides. I'm also not really into the bass stuff all that much, either. I'm not looking to have my car register as a seismic event. (But at 140dB, it's certainly not bad, either.)
I'd guess that the amp is a bit under powered, for lots of SPL, but those subs will definitely take a lot more, in a well-built enclosure.

Those will be a good upgrade from what you had. For my personal choices I would choose many brands over Pioneer, BUT I will not say their stuff is crap. I personally love their decks.
As for all you guys who say Pioneer sucks, read up before you speak. They still have produced one of the best ever made head units to date. Also they made some of cleanest car amplifiers ever seen. For those who don't know what I'm talking about do some research on Pioneer's ODR systems. Thats Optical Digital Reference systems. It had to bought as a full set at around $6000 up. It used all fiber optic cables all the way to the amps, then went to standard speaker wire.
AccentGSI as for your new set-up let a professional build the box for you and you will be happy with it. Since you have to go with a lower powered amp I would suggest something ported if the speakers do that. If you need any help let me know.

Well I hoping that it'll be better. From what you guys say, it should. And for the enclosure, well the insurance company is taking care of all that. My car is going in Tuesday to get the trunk measured. A specialist is gonna be building the enclosure. Should be good smile.gif If one amp won't be enough I'll just get another one like it wink.gif

A few words on pioneer. I have sat in a few of there training meetings when I used to sell. First of off they were and as far as I know the only company to put mosfets. In there head units. Which gave the buyer true rms rated power at the head unit and even gave you a chance to brige two of the channels to run a small 10" . Like in a truck or something with a small cab. They are stil one of the largest companies to offer factory sizes speakers for weird sizes holes and depths. There subs in my opinon are more for sound quality than spl applications. There is a diffrance in build and consturction between the two.
