I'm asking this for someone else.
they are swapping they're cluster and want to swap the odo so that the mileage is correct. I dont know if its a rd1 or rd2.

i think he means, to get one with the correct mileage he has on the motor

you can roll them back somehow, but im not sure how, or whether or not its good to do

I thought he meant swapping one into another cluster.

Changing the mileage to be the correct one is also very easy to do though. Pop it out and it moves pretty easily.

P.S. if you are not good with fiddly little mechanical bits, it would be pretty easy to screw up a speedometer. You can set it to whatever you like, once you figure it out. Good idea: practice on a spare.
